M3 sport plus question

I'm new to the M world and just purchased a M3 Comp and have a question about sport plus to see whether it's normal or not.

Every-time I put the car in sport plus the cooling fans kick in instantly and are really loud, like near in louder than the exhaust.

Is this normal and I'm worrying about nothing or is there a problem and a fix?

Thanks in advance
John

That doesn't seem normal. I would get it checked out.

My understanding is that the fans kicking on in Sport Plus are normal. However, they are definitely not louder than the exhaust - I really only hear them with windows rolled down at a red light.

I have a '17 M4 comp, the cooling fan is Sports + mode is loud. How loud is subjective. With BM3, I enabled max cooling mode, you can hear the cooling fan cycle on / off.

Yes this is normal for the fans to kick on...the engine seems to run a bit warmer in sport plus however...louder than the exhaust I'm not sure.

The engine runs actually cooler in sport plus. That has been discussed to death. Obviously that provides the margin needed to handle excessive load on track.

The sense of these cooling is that your engine temperature goes down, the oil is "cooler" near 90°-95° celsius and the engine can bet the best power for hard conditions.

The thermic in Sport or Efficient is a little higher, so ca. 100-120° celsius but not optimal for hard runs on highways or mountains.
Thats principial simply too high for really attacks the turbos.

So, when the fans run thats cooling down the engine bay and all in the system is fine.

by the way:
when the weather temperatures are very hot and you'll be coming home activate the sport+ modus for cooling down the system. That helps many to dont crash forward your turbos. These turbines runs with very hot oil and rpm's. so when you stop the car the turbos wear hard to spinning out when the oilpump stops.

DONT STOP WITH A HOT ENGINE!
Cooling down 3miles before and let it a half minute backrun when you finish your trip.
