F90 owner moving to F80

Hey guys, trading in my F90 tomorrow morning towards a F80. Any recommendations for first mods for a track oriented build? And for those asking, F90 is literally unbeatable, but too easy/comfortable to drive. I was running stage 2 @ 800hp and nothing could even come close to me in straights and corners as well (gets boring at the top LOL) I'm picking up a 2016 F80 comp with a 6spd

I would first throw this up in the Track/Autocross sub forum. A lot of knowledge there for track mods.

In general, some of the more popular first mods for this platform are upgraded brakes (stock are great, but will fade like there's no tomorrow pretty quickly), and a set of track wheels/tires.

Good luck!

Interesting. I'm hoping to do the opposite in a few years but while I don't need a sedan I'm taking advantage of the coupe I've wanted for a long time.

18" wheels/tires for track setup, upgraded fluids and pads should be enough for a first session.

Track pads and Castrol SRF to begin with. Camber plates, 200 (or lower) TW tires and track wheels would be next.

Stage 2 tune and catless downpipes get you pretty close. Throw in a full intake, and you're basically there.

That is showing 715WHP. It would take a hell lot more than intake to get you 800WHP, IMO.

715 is still absolutely silly levels of power.

Then there's this maniac that had the engine rebuilt and modified for 1000BHP

Utter madness and way beyond what you can use on a street, but it's pretty awesome

Think I'll try to stick to my stock M4 at about 425hp... I get up to enough trouble with this already

Nobody said 800whp. OP just said 800hp, which is what a number of tuned F90s are doing at the crank. Usually the above mods plus a meth kit to get over that.

If OP meant 800whp, I apologize, but there are only a handful of those out there right now, and that requires custom tuning and more upgrades, as seen here:

Same. I keep thinking I'll replace my F80 with an F90, and I think back to all the speeding tickets and the times I have to drive moderately because of the police presence during any given commute, and I'm like...why?

This is the first time I heard someone talks about crank horsepower on a modified car because it is nearly impossible to get the car on an engine dyno. I guess it is possible if you take the engine out.

It's quite frequent here in the forums. Plenty of folks throw mods on without doing any dyno runs and just quote whatever they've heard. Suffice it to say, an 800 crank hp S63 is not unheard of, and I can only assume that's what OP means?

Where? I never see people going around talking about crank HP on this forum other than stock #s.

Pretty sure people quote the dyno numbers, which is in WHP.

Yes dyno #'s are always quoted in WHP, which takes into account driveline loss. The only variable is what's considered the driveline loss %. Some say 15%, some say 12%, depends how big the car is, if its AWD, etc. So there really isn't an exact #.

When I talk to an enthusiast that gets it, I reference WHP. For anyone else, its just much easier to talk about crank HP, otherwise I need to get into a simple math discussion about drivetrain loss at which point people's eyes glaze over.

I like that guy's channel.
He is a a true enthusiast.

Every review it's like he can't believe he's driving an amazing car.

He tries not to smile then big a$$ grin when the car launches on him.

Puts his personal biz out there and tries to help other YouTube channels

Good dude

Plenty of non-technical discussions across these forums where folks quote crank numbers. Most of us enthusiasts don't, because that's not what we care about, but not everyone is us
