I called Morristown BMW and he doesn't have anything in the system yet. I'd say in the next few weeks it will trickle down.

Tim was a Puma case, it may not be available to everyone in the US yet.

(1) A sudden drop in idle when slowing to a stop. This may cause a “stalling” effect. The vehicle restarts immediately and runs normally. (2) An intermittent red “Emergency Gearbox Program” accompanied by a “Parking Lock Magnet” fault and / or an “Input Selector Lever Position” fault. It will be available at my dealer later this week.

So whose going to be the first person to test the downshifting on hard braking?

went to the dealership, my SA had me make an appt. for next week because it takes a few hours apparently. he also said that technically they're not supposed to update it unless "the customer complains." so if you don't have a good relationship with your SA, just go in and tell them you've had a couple stalls when stopping fast...then they'll do it. as far as a bulletin number, didn't get that, but i did post the text of the TSB here. 0028000100 is not a TSB number, it's a defect code.

I was at a track day in Portland OR today. One of the other drivers had the updated DCT. He said it works properly now - shifts just fine under braking and if you select one gear down it goes one gear down.
He said it transformed the car. |

I called my SA last Friday and he said they can't find anything on a DCT update. No big hurry for me because I will not be going to the track for a while now, but I am sure encouraged that the bugs are getting worked out. My biggest issue is in everyday driving my car will shift from 3 to 1st when I want 2nd; not all the time, but enough to be a pain.

my SA didn't find it right away either...but if your SA does some digging, he'll find it. and there isn't a problem on the track. from personal experience, DCT worked flawlessly in S5 on the track.

Awesome! I'm really happy to hear that you DCT guys and gals are getting taken care of and these issues are being solved. I felt bad for guys like Tim with the stalling issue and those of you having trouble downshifting on the track. Very cool!

Just think of it has a "special request for clarification". Basically, when a problem arises that the dealership can't really figure out, hasn't seen before and that there are no bulletins addressing the problem they stop working on your car and a PuMa is created, like an open file.
For example, with my dad's 745Li (he now has a 750Li) was having a rough transmission shifting issue. Had it for months and brought it in three different times and they just couldn't figure it out. So they put in a PuMa and gave him the car back. About a week or so later they asked him to bring the car back as BMW was shipping a computer in from Germany with a program to be loaded onto my dad's car. BINGO, fixed the issue. But as you can see it was a specific case that required the brains in Germany to address individually. Many times a PuMa will lead to a bulletin, sometimes not. PuMa's can be ways for BMW to find little corks that they just weren't able to vet out in the design/production/testing stage.
