Cold air intake

I am wanting to upgrade the cold air intake on my e92. Looking for suggestions. Quality product that will break the bank.

I've had Dinan in the E36, E46, and I found a used E92 one on this forum for $500. Induction noise is a bit louder with it, which is all I want and I personally love it.

jd501 is correct as is skillets .....it depends on what you want. There is very minor if any improvement in performance but the sound does get better with it. If you are looking to dress up the engine compartment a bit and amplify the induction sound it's a quality upgrade.

I've got one and love it.

Get a drop in filter replacement or the Macht Schnell stg2 intake. Neither will make much power over the oem filter/elbow but it can't hurt.

I mean, aside from the hideous logo, the Macht Schnell intake is pretty nice, and the one that is able to show some gains over a drop in filter. A drop in is the best value.

Of course, a literal read of OP's post is "WILL break the bank." In which case, we're going to lean more in this direction: https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-5...intake-system/

Oh man, would love to have that...but need RB's first lol.

Actually, I saw some dyno sheets when it first came out and that plenum showed increases over the OEM plenum. Minimal, but they made more power.

I've got an aFe intake, the Stage 2. Here's a link but I don't remember where I bought it specifically. The induction sound is beastly, as I think all of the conical filters are.

It's basically just a cleaned up elbow on a stock intake. Same as the Macht Schnell, although for whatever reason, the MS intake seems to show on the dyno very slightly, and the AFEs don't really seem to. (I don't really see why - they're pretty much the same.)

Bang for buck, nothing comes close to just buying the K&N stock drop in. You get 75-100% of the (small) performance gain, most of the sound, and pay 25% of the price.

I paid $150 for my MS intake and $0 for my K&N filter (stole it out of a friend's trunk when he bought an M3 that came with the MS). I honestly am not convinced that I can tell the difference.

If you just want a cold air intake, you're in luck. The car comes with one of the best of all time from the factory.

Yes. There's a reason why all the aftermarket options are really just minor tweaks to the factory system, rather than wholesale replacements.
