How and where do you sell your custom builds?

I've been following a few build threads on here and was wondering what you all did when it comes time to sell? I know dealers won't give you anything for custom work, and worse will dock you for it, so what do you do? Keep all the stock parts and go back to that when you're done?

Or sell private with the mods? Is there a special 'modded car' listing site?

I've sold a handful of my modded cars but since we're talking about BMWs, Sold my e39 M5, e46 and e90 M3s modded to a private sale. It takes time to find the right car enthusiast buyer vs tire kickers. Be ready to be motivated in answering all questions and present necessary documents when asked. The people that comes over to see the car are your potential and true buyers. Be truthful and do NOT hide anything that can affect the sale. Keep the car clean and presentable. Your goal is to sell.

If you're in a hurry and DGAF, Worse case is just part it out and sell it to carmax.

As a buyer - i hate reading at listings that says ** No test drive, cash only **

How Dafuq am i going to get the feels if i don't drive it ...

BAT is a good choice and now with CarsAndBids that might be a good option as well.

In the end you'd be better off parting out the mods and selling the car stock.

Most of the time people just revert the car to stock and sell it that way and then sell the mods separately. If you're strapped for time, sell it to Carmax with the mods on it.

I feel that - especially on a modded car. Like what if your mods just totally destroyed ride quality.

That all makes sense though. I've sold to carmax and they were definitely easy, but I didn't have any mods on that car. The other one I sold had mods and I got basically nothing for it.

Really annoying to have to hold on to all the stock parts through the years though. Maybe I'm just bad at storing things tho
