Any one on here use dollies to move their M3s around the garage?

I'd like to slide my E92 left to right to open up some floor space with out having to back the car in and out every time I want to move it.

These I found have 11" max width which is 279mm so 265 rears should fit but may get pinched if not perfectly lined up. Also the 285 rears on the F80 probably wouldn't fit if you wanted to use it on a newer car.

Appreciate any thoughts or experiences with these devices.

I did a search here and didn't find any old threads but please link those if I missed them.

We use these in the film business a lot. They can work like a charm. One or two can easily move a vehicle in minutes

Cheap dollies without integrated jacks may be easier to use. Generally no width limitations on them.

If the goal is winter storage (aka very occasional actual use), I'd go with dollies that have as few features as possible. The built in jack types are nice if you use them a lot, but add points of failure and bulk if you don't. (In particular, do you really want to be catching your ankles on those wheels / jack handle?)

Good points - also for longer term storage less likelihood of getting pinch points or flat spots in the tires with a traditional one piece dolly. Just need to have space then to use the floor jack to lift up the car.

I have to agree with the above, I already owned a trolley jack and purchased the cheaper non jack type (not for my BMW) and yes takes a little longer to get up on the dolleys but no great issue unless you want to take it off the dolleys and its close to a wall making it hard to get the jack in to lift it off.

You end up with these? How'd they work? I'm considering them again.

I did not. Was going to use them to squeeze a third car into a space with two cars but decided against it as it would have been very tight and too much hassle. These still look useful though if you have the room to store them as well as room to roll the car around.

I used the ones from Harbor Freight, just a basic dolly and any size tire will fit. Had them under my E36 M3 when she was down for a couple years, made it super easy to move it around the garage. Also had them under my last Mini after it popped a HG and had no problem moving it around on my own. They are cheap too!

Picked these up. Overall huge success to recovering space in my garage while the car sits between track / maintenance days.

Now, whoever is responsible for distributing a single dolley at each respective store should be fired. What sense does it make for everyone to have only 1 in stock? Spent a couple hours driving around snagging one at a time.

The rear tire is 12.32", 305/35/18 NT01. No issues with clearance even though they're spec'd for 11" max width. but this is likely the largest tire width I'd run.

Lastly, huge improvement to pulling this in / out of the garage with aero. Don't have to Austin powers my way back and forth to try and create space while watching that wing and splitter.
