M4 tail lights on while charging the battery

so my m4 died from sitting for a while and i have a lithium battery charger charging the car and im just wondering why the tail lights came on? my headlight/ taillights are set to off too.

I know it's not normal, that's why I'm asking on here hoping someone has an answer. I contacted a friend of a friend that works for bmw that says it's normal but I want a second opinion.

Is your key fob near it? Are you leaving your hood open? If you lock the car do the lights turn off?

Battery died from the car sitting for a while and my hood is open but that's because I'm charging it from the terminals there and I was swapping my intercooler because the oem one decided to leak :-)

Your 2019 intercooler was leaking and you wanted to fix it yourself instead of using warranty?

Can you clarify? You were fixing the intercooler, hood was open and the car was not hooked up to a tender, battery died, and now it is being charged/hooked up. Correct?
If so, How long did it sit not hooked up?
