Wheel purchase question

I have a guy locally that is selling a set of 469m wheels ( staggered) and snow tires off of an x6 for $2000. My question is would they work on my 18 x m sport and do you think it’s a good price?

Yes, 469s will work on your 2018 X5. As far as the price is concerned: that's not something we can give feedback on. If it's a good deal to YOU, then go for it.

Snow tires on 469m is a little odd. I'd look for a smaller wheel set for snows

Nothing wrong with 20" with snow tires, BMW offered them for F85/F86 as recommended size.

Yes they'll work, 469M's are an F15/F16 OEM wheel.

$2000 is right in the ballpark for OEM 469M wheels w/ tires. 'Good price' would depend on wheel condition and tire brand/remaining tread. If the wheels are in good shape/don't have a bunch of rash, and it's got a good set of tires with lots of remaining tread, then I'd say it's a 'good price.' If they're all rashed up with crap tires, probably not a 'good deal.'

Not odd at all, quite a few forum members here run 20's and 21's with winter tires. I run Michelin Alpin PA4's in OEM specs on my OEM 469M's for a winter setup... awesome tire.

Look for part numbers on the backside of rims. Want to make sure they're not replicas.

Price seems pretty good if the set is OEm and in good condition and tires aren't too worn.

This may sound excessive, but @$2k I'd take the wheels to a shop to check for straightness.

For winters though I'd go for something narrower unless you just don't drive in snow

I run all-seasons (Conti DWS 06) on staggered 20's and don't have an issue in the Northeast (US) so you should be fine with winter tires. Obviously wouldn't be as ideal as a square 18/19 setup, but they will look better 🤷🏽

Last year, we took our then Cayenne S with All-weather tires to a ski resort and it was a very scary situation for us since the car was sliding around a lot. Switched to X5 with 19-inch squares and the snow traction is significantly better. IMHO. While, the 20-inch rims look so much nicer, for safety in the snow I'd recommend squared set up with narrower tires.

FWIW, I haven't noticed much difference in handling with the smaller rims other than it seems to absorb potholes a bit better.

No doubt the staggered wheels look much nicer!

I def agree 19" on winter tires are ideal. I will say however, that you are likely not going to encounter snow like you would near/at a ski resort in everyday driving. With that said, if I had the option (i.e. the space in my garage and requisite tools) I would more than likely run separate winter/summer wheels.
