If you have to ask the question I'd suggest bringing the car to a reputable BMW shop for a private party inspection. Let a mechanic look the car over and give you a list of what's wrong.

Otherwise the list of common issues with this car could include:
-Leaking Valve Covers
-DCT Leaks
-Bushings & Suspension Wear
-Drivetrain & Guibo wear
-General signs of accidents or improper repairs
-Smelly AC evaporator
-Pull any codes to look for previous issues (which could include previous or recent Throttle actuator failure codes)

^^ It is a solid platform but the list is still pretty long of things you should look out for if you're smart.

It goes way deeper than RB's and TA's

i just bought a 2010 M3 and it has most of these issues lol
i will probably be 7k in repairs (indy shop) to get it where i want it to be (including RB's) - so factor that in. ideally buying one from this forum with all of these issues addressed is the way to go - i was just too impatient

If you can DIY, most things that I’ve dealt with have been pretty straightforward. If you plan on paying for repairs, I’d invest in a well sorted one. They are out there.

Bought mine with 77K miles, RBs and TAs already done. 98K miles now.

So far it has needed VCGs, Oil filter housing gasket, and alternator. I did DIY and couldn’t be happier.

Garage List
2010 BMW M3  [0.00]
Besides doing the rod bearings as a PM, my car needed:

DCT Transmission pan
Driveshaft
Complete DCT transmission swap (faulty mecha - rarest dct trans issue)
Thermostat
Pulleys
Hood latch

The heater core needs to either be flushed or replaced at some point
Will probably need to do my valve covers at some point down the line.
