My Wife's Car is Faster. :(

OK so now that my warranty is finally up as of last month, I can play catch up. She has a 2014 x35i X5 and I have a 2017 x35i X6. Last fall, we did BMS intake, VRSF downpipe, and MHD stage 2 flash. Her car is so much fun for an SUV now.

My turn I guess LOL. I bought my X6 and it came with the MPPK. Only mods I've done so far is H&R VTR springs and 22" Vossens. I have X5M calipers to go on my car as well, but I think its time to round out the performance, and I need some help because I've been searching and reading threads for DAYS.

In Feb, I got rear-ended and it bent up my exhaust, so I've ordered the MPE and finishers to cover that and I have an ER DP ready to go in.

I want to get the AFE intake + diesel snorkel, but it's backorderd right now.

So that leaves me just to the tuning aspect of it. I could just as easily flash with MHD stage 2 and it would be awesome, but I feel like doing that wastes the fact that my car had the MPPK.

So what are my options?

Option 1 - Keep MPK
1a - Get JB4 and run map 2 or map 5.
1b - Get RCU
1c - Get something dinan that stacks with MPPK.

Option 2 - Grab the closest beer, chug it, smash it on my forehead and forego MPPK all together and just get MHD Stage 2.

Need some help here friends!

I personally would go 1c. Def would not remove MPPK as that is a potential asset in terms of resale value.

Honestly, didn't even think about the resale value.

Option 2. I have MPPK + MPE and thing sounds great in sport mode with the burbles. You'll likely lose that if you get rid of MPPK.

+1 on resale value point.

For an enthusiast yes, for BMW dealership no. I had MPPK, MPE and MPBK on my 435i that I traded in and both local BMW dealers I went to offered $0 on top of KBB price, claiming the mods had "sentimental value" only.

Def agree and I actually meant to mention that. I would assume given he is an enthusiast that he may be the type to sell privately, but good point nonetheless. I personally would find removing a $1500 option to be a waste even if it didn't affect resale.

Yeah. Don't do it for the resale value, do it for fun. My 2 cents worth. Keep the MPPK!

Have no clue what stacks well with MPPK but can't ever go wrong with option 2 We've got to get your rig faster than the wife's in order to get your man card back lol.

If resale value is of no concern, option 2 for me. Sunk costs anyway, but more fun with less headaches. At least in theory.

My wife's car is faster also, but I don't think any modding will get my X5 there.

Haha. At least I have my 700hp 335 still.

I guess that's why I'm thinking I would rather go piggyback, because this really isn't my project car, its just my fun daily.

Oh and another thing... I have to pass NYS inspection, so if I went piggyback, I'd have to use either an O2 sim or something like this:

https://amzn.to/3d5sLqy

So maybe my first step is to put downpipe in, try mini catalyst and see if it throws codes. If it does, that may help determine what I have to do.

Let us know how the experiment goes.

Actually just picked the car up today from my local shop that did the downpipe, MPE and finishers. The tech that did the work said he used one of these on a cayenne turbo and it worked great. He said they seem to last about a year. For $30-40 to pass each year without having to flash over my MPPK seems like a win to me!

Also had the tips and downpipe cerakoted semi-gloss black!

Welp. spoke too soon. CEL came on this morning. Luckily I had them inspect it before putting the dp on so I've got a year to figure it out.

Can you please post a video of how the car sounds with MPE/MPPK/Downpipes? I would be very grateful as I have all of those except the Downpipes which I might have to get.

So now that I've taken care of the exhaust and I have the AFE intake on the way... I have to decide what to do about the CEL and further tuning.

My options to keep the MPPK are to try the CatSim and put some Bosch connectors on it so I don't have to splice anything and I can just plug it inline. Then get a RaceChip GTS or JB4.

If I flash with MHD stage 2, I'll gain a lot of power but will lose the MPPK.

I guess the real question is does JB4 or the RaceChip truly stack with the MPPK. From some of the threads I read about the RaceChip is that it does.

I know very little about the MPPK, but if I were you I'd go either w/ the MHD stage 2 or BM3 stage 2 flash tune. Is the MPPK transferable? Once you get the flash tune you'll kick yourself for not going that route sooner.

MPPK is not transferable to other car. But BM3 allow you to save it as stock tune when you want to flash it back.
