Question about screen mirroring with android
Hi, first of all, thank you for reading and any help. I searched in forum, but could not find answer to my question, so start a new thread
I recently got a 2018 BMW X5. I understand screen mirroring is not working with iphone. So i got a Nokia 2.3 which was updated to android 10 which I believe support Miracast. When I tried to connect it to screen mirroring, the phone could find the car ID. But while they were connecting, it always failed. I always got a message from car's screen "Timeout. the device can not be connected". Does anyone know what is the issue and what I should do? |

Isn't Carplay an Apple only feature?. Screen mirroring would be the only way to view apps on the monitor if you are using an Android phone.
If that isn't the case please let me know as I have no intention of changing my phone to suit my car. |

Easier to see google maps on larger monitor. Yes, I know the car has navigation, but it's much quicker and easier to enter addresses and look up locations on Google maps. And then there are the traffic and speed trap features on Google.

Thank you all for the replies. I just got this android hoping to use screen mirroring to watch video or sports game on the bigger car screen. CarPlay supports limited apps on iPhone.

Just tried it in mine, '18 X5 with carplay option and screen mirroring activated via coding, galaxy S21ULTRA, it works although it doesn't fill the entire screen. The only feature I miss about my former mustang is the android auto compatibility.

I got mine working through mirroring with a rather cheap and old Samsung. Only two problems - for some reason there will be a black frame unused around the screen, so you won't get the picture as big as the car screen. And secondly - it's ultra slow...you are giving commands and clicking and stuff and then you are discovering the menu is already who knows where because it's still figuring out what did you asked it to do three clicks back and when it suddenly catches up it's gone where you didn't want it to go. But if you are patient enough the picture quality on videos is actually pretty good.

I use a Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 model which has the smart view short cut to watch you tube & web tv via the screen mirror option

It would seem the easiest ( maybe only?) way to get Android full screen is to just change the dash screen for one of the Android units from Avin or Aliexpress etc.
Get full Android Auto capabilities then, not just monitoring. |
