Why is RPM needle stopping at 3000 at startup. Help

I have a 2015 M4. When u turn on the car the RPM needle does a sweep to 8500 but stops at 3000 RPM for 2 seconds before going back to off. The same things happens at startup where it pauses at 3000rpm before going to idle. The car has both JB4 and BM3.

Whats causing this?

You are on a flexmap most likely, aka the 4 map packs on BM3.

It does it on mine when i select map 3.

The issue is it might be that your cruise control is stuck.

Try flashing the car to stop from BM3 back to stock then reflash.

Mine occasionally does the same where it will hold at whatever map number you’re on. I think it’s meant to show you which map you’re on at startup but it doesn’t always happen. I don’t think it’s anything bad as long as it eventually shows your RPMs

Thanks it seems it was the multi map settings. I tried the various maps and the needle stops on the correct map each time.
