a must-have if you care about sound IMO
to install an equivalent aftermarket system would cost you more, not be integrated, not add value to your resale and have no warranty. |

This is what the web-site shows. I don't think it's the L7 system.

Ok here's likely a dumb question. In previous 3 series I have had the distiction between having and not having L7 was the centre speaker in the dash between the i-drive and the windshield.
Is this the same in the M3? How can I tell if I have it otherwise? I actually thought the M3's (at least Canadian versions) came with L7.

The M3 we get in India is with the Logic 7 system, which sounds great. Could do with just a little more bass kick, but otherwise very good. Best factory fitted sound I've heard!

I just picked up my '09 yesterday with the base system. Some years back, I invested thousands on my cars in aftermarket equipment.. Alpine, HK, CVega, etc., mostly because that was my way to make up for driving a cheap used car. I know what a great system sounds like and what one that can wake the neighborhood as well. I don't know if the base system on my 09 is L7 or not. It makes no difference to me. It sounds fine and after listening to it, I would not pay 1900 to upgrade it. In fact, I didn't and still have not listened to the 1900 system... I'm sure it is worth it if you value such as an option. My suggestion is that you listen to both and make up your own mind. I do agree with those here that say that if you plan to upgrade later, just do it upfront so that it is factory installed with warranty etc. Asking if its worth it from others is like asking what color car you should get, which of course should be Silerstone.

Get the Premium Audio, you will need it once you reach the 1200 mile breakin point and put that Race Exhaust system on!

Ha ... I don't need to mod the exhaust... as is, I use the 420 watts dual exhaust speakers to wake up the neighbors instead! Seriously tho... I listen to about 75% talk radio and 25% music. So... again, it depends on what the person is looking for. I'm just not a music aficionado as I was 15-20 years ago in my 20s and early 30s. I'm cool with stock. If I had bought this car some years back, I would have probably paid the 1900. Its not cool to drive down the street blasting 80s music hahahaha.

If I was serious about my music I think I would use the EOM unit and connect it to an aftermarket amp/speaker package which allowed for proper time alignment.

I have the L7 in my 535 and the Enhanced Preimum Sound in the M3 and I think the M3 is noticably better than the L7...to be honest I was kind of disappointed with the L7 in the 5 - I'm used to it now and it is pretty good, but it doesn't handle classic rock very well...jsut my .02
