First car I've ever had that I can't think of any mods to do

So I love modding my cars but I like to keep it tasteful. Other cars I've always had plenty of things I wanted to do but with this car I just can't think of anything. Whether aesthetic or performance nothing jumps out at me. I guess it's a good thing bc BMW really nailed this car but I miss the mod process. When I got the car it already had an xpipe and a tune. I already did the m5 shifter and black kidneys. Definitely don't want to supercharge it.

FWIW it's a space gray 2011 E90 ZCP. Slicktop and single hump. 6MT. Anybody have any subtle tasteful mods they really like? I've looked at the various parts sites and never see anything else I want to do.

Solid rear subframe bushes, Ohlins R/T, CF plenum. The list is long. Lol

Do the brakes. Even if it’s just a F80 spindle swap and F/R calipers. These cars look so much better once you ditch the sliding calipers.

I agree. First 2013 e92M3 comp was modded up with ess650, BBK, wild exhaust, etc. Current 2012 e92M3 comp is basically stock, just has upsized Michelin PS4S and camber plates with custom alignment. Had other mods like engine and trans tune and exhaust and I ditched those and I'm much happier with the car in basically stock form.

Honestly the car needs nothing.

But mods are fun, and help us make the car unique

I felt the same way... at first.

Tasteful mods that come to mind and enhance the experience:

-Black grills and gills and hood vents
-Carbon rear spoiler
-exhaust (sound is SO much better after)
-Underdrive pulley (helps with low end response)
-Intake (for sound)
-lighter wheels with proper offset (again, helps with low end response)

Everyone complains about lack of torque but I can honestly say after my new wheels and Underdrive pulley it responds so much smoother I don't notice the low torque anymore.

Oh... cloth sunvisors. The cheap plastic ones really deter from the interior.

I bought used from the forum. but there are quite a few vendors that sell the euro versions that don't have the airbag label.

I thought I'd leave my first E92 M3 alone when I got it. But the mod bug bit shortly after. My current E92 has basic bolt-ons and a few other mods, and I'm now eyeing a few other items such as headers, carbon plenum, suspension overhauls, etc. My current battery is 8 years old, will add an Anti-gravity battery this winter. 3DM ohlins is the next add. Getting it down to 3400 lbs full interior with 500 crank hp (NA+stock displacement) is my long term goal. Sort of an E92 CS.

That said, my dad also has an E92 with just an OEM exhaust mod and K&N drop in. It does drive nice, but I like the increased brutality the mods add.

Good suspension setup is all these cars really need IMO. Ohilins R&T/DFV are the popular option for a street car.

Glad you like the car so much. I had a similar opinion then I put some miles on it and the suspension can be improved a lot, the exhaust in stock form is boring, and anything cf or cosmetic can also be improved, right off the top.

With ohlin’s and corsa, no cats and a tune I wouldn’t want to drive it stock, in fact it would be quite boring haha. You can upgrade the car significantly with a few mods.

That might be true if everybody didn't do the exact same mods, so not unique at all!

This post was a clear use of reverse psychology to elicit ideas for mods from the forum members rather than the usual "what mods can I do to this car..." post. Kudos to the OP for originality!

And I do agree with your original point that BMW really nailed it with this car. Sure, there are plenty of little ways to improve this or that but in reality you don't need to do any of that to really enjoy this car. It is just about as good as a regular production car can get, as evidenced by the truckload of awards this car had racked up during it run. I drove mine back home from Cali in full stock form other than the MPE the PO installed, and it was glorious just as it was. Not to say I am not also putting a few of my own touches on the car, but I would love the car just the same either way.

I'm somewhat of armchair psychology nerd and I think you're on to something regardless of OP's intentions. I think this falls under Cunningham's Law, which basically says the best way to get the correct answer on the internet is to not ask a question, but to say the wrong answer. In this case, OP states that "he can't think of any mods to do". Another way to say that statement is "I think this car cannot be modified properly per my information"- which 99% of people who are here regularly would disagree with and provide only the best answers to make him see the light so to speak.
