When is the best time to sell my M3? Now or in the Spring?
When is the best time to sell my 2011 e90 m3?
Currently, as we all know prices are high on all used cars due to COVID. However, now that its winter should we expect overall sales to slow down and prices to drop slightly? Am I better off waiting for Spring? Another concern is when will this COVID bubble pop dropping prices? However, resolution to supply chain issues don't appear to be anytime soon. Thoughts? Thanks! |

I don't think E90 prices are going down much in the future. The price increase might slow down, but they are not likely to reverse. Christmas time and just after it is likely the slow season to sell/buy a car. Other than that...

considering you have an e90, i think specs matter. AW, SSII, IB, MR, or a sought after color will always have a buyer. Enthusiasts are always looking.

As a general rule of thumb, Spring is usually the best time to sell a sporty/convertible car. Not hard and fast, but other factors not withstanding, that would be the best time. Winter would always be the worst time as these type of cars are mostly used as weekend/nice weather cars and the bulk of them get put up till spring anyway. Demand would seem to be the lowest from now till closer to Spring, as evidenced by the very large number currently available. Back in May, when I was watching the market closely and looking to buy myself, cars were turning over much quicker than they are now. Due to the current market, however, there may not be a really slow season like in a typical year. GL either way!

It's a gamble and if you like to gamble then wait until spring. I'm in Florida we're weather is not as much of a factor in pricing and I've seen the E9x M3's in all configurations see price reductions in the last several months. The market is peaking and over saturation saturation is real, we've seen the peak and now they're correcting to realistic prices. Sellers are eating there words now. But again that's based on where I'm at.
If you're thinking about selling, I'd put it up for what you want out of it and see what happens. You might see a potential lose come spring but you also could see a potential gain if you sell it now. |

Traditionally, yes spring is the best time to sell but this is not a traditional market. If you "need" to sell, I'd put it up and sit on it until you get what you want for it. There seem to be a lot of cars on the market at the moment; the closer to stock, the better.

If you're waiting until past the holidays, maybe consider waiting until tax time, where some people are sitting more flush with cash from their tax returns.
Also, depending on your specs and the condition, there are consignment sellers that have a portfolio of affluent buyers, and on the lookout for certain models. Lastly, an online auction site called "Bring A Trailer" seems to being in some astronomical numbers for certain cars, M3 included. |

Which online classifieds is best in your opinion?
Autotrader, Cars.com, Carfax or others? Passing on auctions such as BAT. There seems to be a lot of spectators there just to make comments and have zero interest in buying. Thanks for the advice! |

Cars don't sell as well between Nov-Jan because of holidays. Not because of gas prices. If I just bought my wife a $4K peloton set, I'd be much less likely to go buy an E90. Not because it'll cost an extra $10 to fill it up for a few months. |
