Questions on my 2016 X5
Hi forum
I just purchased an used 2016 X5 xdrive35i from autobhan in Belmont. It was traded in and I got it for 31k and has 57k miles. It was very well maintained and has great service records. I checked with a 3rd party mechanic and they were surprised at the mint quality and couldn’t find any faults. The vehicle has almost the options I want minus ventilated seats, M sport package. It has parking assist, ACC, pedestrian warning, HUD, 3rd row option with air suspension. So far I love the vehicle, not worried about if this is a good deal since i had to purchase it within December 31 for tax purposes. Now comes the questions 1. Is it possible to remove the 3rd row and create a bigger trunk space ? 2. Have anyone replace their factory front display with avinusa? Thanks |

Yes you can delete the 3rd row seats but it won't get you much extra space since on the cars w/o 3rd row seats this the spare tire storage, not sure if deleting the row will help you much, just keep it folded. And yes people did replace their screens with android tablets. Please use search function there is plenty of information here and about 90% questions of new owners have been answered here many times before. For Android tablets and alternatives check this thread here: https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1646802 |

Congratulations and welcome!
Did the previous owner replace the OEM charge pipe? At 57K miles - if the charge pipe is the original one, I suggest to replace it with a metal one made by Evolution Racewerks. |

Welcome.
Good thought on charge pipe. Any reason why you want an aftermarket head unit? Just curious...even for an "older" car, these things seem pretty well with phone integration. I can't image the Avin having many features these don't. |

Well it is a want rather than a need. I am interested in wireless Apple CarPlay and Waze/Google ability with touch screen. Plus I want to integrate DVR on back and front view. It seemed like a logical one stop solution rather than upgrading/retrofitting the entire ID drive. I am looking at the total cost including installation close to 1K I think it is a reasonable cost. |

I just got the following and added it in. Best of both worlds as keeps the stock look and feel, but get wireless carplay and Android auto. Also super cheap!

I was thinking AVINUSA allows you do the same(stock and custom views with touch screen). Also my wife will kill me if I start touching the trim( I am not that confident and have not done anything like this before), so looking for a decent installer in Bay Area |
