Garage List
It's not bad but you can tell. but really only an issue at idle.

I had catless for two weeks and switched it out to a high flow catted dp. There are lots of people on here saying it's not bad, can only smell it at stop light, in parkade or garage etc but that's enough reason to not go catless imo. The smell is foul and it can burn your eyes and nostrils plus it got way too loud (HIGH PITCH), not really an X5 thing if you ask me, maybe cool if you were a kid rolling around in a 320. Just my 2 cents.

The catted dp is way more tolerable, not nearly as restrictive as stock, it's still a bit smelly when COLD but once the cat is toasty it gets rid of pretty much all the bad smell. Quiet down the high pitched turbo whistle by about 50%. Trade off is you do pay over twice the price, only half the performance of catless. You gain better smelling exhaust that's less annoying sounding.

I don't think it's to loud plus if you keep your OEM valve, comfort mode will only exit one pipe and turns the volume down quite a bit. But don't let others say that catless doesn't smell. It fuking reeks. That being said it's worth it for what stage 2 offers. Just don't sit at idle for long with the car running. My E46 M3 was catless and the X5 smells worse.

My exhaust video w/ catless and vibrant muffler

My wife doesn't know I have a catless dp (I used some stored away cash for the purchase) and she always comments "your car smells". She can even smell me after I've ridden in it and walk into the house sometimes. I just say, "yeah I'm not sure why it smells" lol

Not sure about that. I will say that going from BM3 stage 1 to stage 2 didn't feel like it was as huge of a gain going from stock to stage 1. I measured max boost and here's what I got:
stock: 10 psi
stage 1: 18 psi
stage 2: 19 psi

Now I didn't dyno, but butt dyno didn't show much from stage 1 to 2. Butt dyno def felt a difference from stock to stage 1.

But it will be at idle at least 2 times every drive. Start and stop. Which is long enough, especially in a garage for the smell to cling to your clothes. Ask me how I know...
