It's not bad but you can tell. but really only an issue at idle.

I had catless for two weeks and switched it out to a high flow catted dp. There are lots of people on here saying it's not bad, can only smell it at stop light, in parkade or garage etc but that's enough reason to not go catless imo. The smell is foul and it can burn your eyes and nostrils plus it got way too loud (HIGH PITCH), not really an X5 thing if you ask me, maybe cool if you were a kid rolling around in a 320. Just my 2 cents.
The catted dp is way more tolerable, not nearly as restrictive as stock, it's still a bit smelly when COLD but once the cat is toasty it gets rid of pretty much all the bad smell. Quiet down the high pitched turbo whistle by about 50%. Trade off is you do pay over twice the price, only half the performance of catless. You gain better smelling exhaust that's less annoying sounding. |

My wife doesn't know I have a catless dp (I used some stored away cash for the purchase) and she always comments "your car smells". She can even smell me after I've ridden in it and walk into the house sometimes. I just say, "yeah I'm not sure why it smells" lol
