Front License Plate mount

So, I live in WA state which requires a front license plate. My new-to-me BMW had a previous owner who just screwed the license plate to the bumper cover so I have holes(

), otherwise I'd just get a tow point license plate mount. So I ordered the BMW plate mount and instead of being black and ready to mount, it is primered gray on the front, which doesn't look right against my SGM car. The last time I got one was probably ten years ago for my 335i and it was just black plastic and looks fine against SGM to me. Right now I think I'll just spray it matte black and be done with it. But it made me curious...do people paint these the car color now? Haven't really looked and was just wondering what others have done.

My car came to me with a US Millworks tow hook mount. I like it. Two cotter pins and it pops off for washing the bumper.

Just rattle can it matte black. Sorry about the holes drilled in.

Yeah, I have the same U.S. Millworks one on the 135. Love it. That would be the one I would get for the M3 if it wasn't for the holes.

I found a rattle can of "bumper trim" black in one of my "mystery boxes" in the garage so I tried that. We'll see how that works...But now I want to see some painted the car color! lol.

+1 for US mill works. Sits extremely flush to the bumper and very solid overall. I've used mine for 4 years now

My car came with a drilled bumper, an Alpine White OE mount, and a standard white CA plate.

I then got a black CA plate, so bought an OE Jet Black mount to blend. The black plate on the white frame was the worst, second to the white plate, surprisingly. I actually didn't mind this black/black setup so much in person.

But now I have an OE Euro bumper.

What color is your plate? Depending on that, you may get away with different color mounts. I found my JB mount in the classifieds here. I should sell both of mine since they just take up garage space and I'll never use them again. I'd get a tow hook mount if I need to address a fix-it ticket. And while I wouldn't want to drill a good bumper, I think the OE mount looks better than all of the others if it's actually being used full time.

when these cars were delivered to the vpc after the port they were all supplied with a body colored front license plate holder. Some had it installed some didnt.

just paint the one you got, its the best looking solution for a plate that remains on.
