'18 F80 M3 Alarm Randomly Going Off

On fairly hot days of about 85° plus, vehicle reverse parked into shaded car port all morning not driven yet, sun does manage to beam directly on the front of the vehicle, and about 11am or so the alarm will trip. I've noticed that it typically always happens in hot weather. If the vehicle is parked normally into the shaded car port under the same circumstance the alarm never gets tripped.

I've dug a bit into this and it sounds like a somewhat common issue with BMW's general due a defective hood switch, but under other mysterious circumstances.

Anyone else's F8X alarm randomly goes off?

First you need access to a scan tool to read out alarm trigger counter

Would BimmerLink be able to read the alarm trigger counter?

This actually happened to me a lot when I was using a sun visor. Once I stopped using it, it was fine

Mine did and it was due to movement being detected. Only happens on hot days with a sun visor being used. If I make sure it is wedged down at the base of the windshield.

Since I have a BT OBD adapter I may get it to poke around with and see if it can grab that alarm trigger.

I did forget to mention I do use the sturdy covercraft sun screen daily..I'll test without it when another hot day comes.
