Windshield Wiper fluid/pump
Hello, i’m trying to troubleshoot an issue where windshield washer fluid does not come out and I also don’t hear the pump even trying. I wanted to check the fuse but on the diagram it looks like there is a car on a lift where the windshield wiper fluid fuse is…. what does that mean?!?

If you use rainX i would check to see if the pump is clogged. Easy way to check is to remove one of the connections that lead to the nozzle and blow. If you can blow then it is clogged. I had to remove the tank and clean both the pump and the tank.

Bmw has had issues with algae building up in the tanks and clogging/burning out the pumps. Mine stopped working, I pulled the tank and just found the pump to be dead, no algae. It’s a tedious job, but a DIY for any competent person with basic skills. Requires removing front passenger fender liner. Besides a new pump and fluid, you will need new pop rivets, as you have to cut or drill a few on the fender liner to remove it.

Thanks guys.
Yes - no fuse for this pump. I have performed the job yesterday, switching to a generic eBay pump - works great. I think I ordered the wrong plastic rivets though, so I will need to sort that out. Also note, in Australia the tank and pump are on driver side :P Jake. |
