Tires and Wheels
Hello,
Just bought an F15 X50i. I am thinking about upsizing the tires and wheels from the current 19" (and fitting in fender flares). Will going from 255 to 275s affect acceleration you think? Or is it only a theoretical impact? Thank you |

I am not sure how it would affect the acceleration, F15 can ride on 22" rims with pretty wide tires, never seen anyone having acceleration issues. In theory if you go with lighter forged rims it can technically help with acceleration :-)

Depending on what brand and size of wheels and tires you go with, it can definitely impact acceleration, and the tread width has less impact than the weight of the tires and wheels.
Sure a wider tire has a bit more rolling resistance, but heavier wheels/tire combos will have a heavier rotating mass, and require more HP to accelerate (and also require more brake force to slow down). If the weight difference isn't that big, you might not notice it. But if you go from heavy stock wheels and runflat tires, to forged wheels and non RF, there can be a significant difference in rotating weight, and if you are in tune with your car, you will definitely notice it.. |
