Are the staff at ECSTuning smoking ice?

They're charging $158 per pair for Turner spacers??

Anyone here running wheel spacers from Amazon?

They're hubcentric and only $30 per pair…

2pcs 15mm 5x120 Hubcentric Wheel Spacers (72.6, 72.56 Bore) Black Compatible with BMW https://a.co/d/3tSN0gA

Or are these trash? Any experience?

I wouldn't want to risk using cheap metal where the wheel is attached to the car.

Good call. That bell of contemplation started ringing in my head too. Thanks for clarifying.

I see Dinan is selling them for $77 a pair, which I'd trust probably more than Turner.

But, they recommend 45mm bolts for a 15mm spacer… Is that too long?

"You get what you pay for..." or maybe "garbage in, garbage out..."

One does not really need to have experience with these obviously garbage products to know to stay away from them. Nothing that cheap could be good at all, with likely trash metal and/or not balanced and/or not flat. There is a fair amount of machining required to make these properly and $30 ain't gonna cut it.

If you want Turner why not get them from their site, looks a bit cheaper. $100 or so for 10mm or $133 for 15mm....

https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-6...-pad/?pdk=AwEB

Or get a set of 12mm WITH bolts for $145. Doesn't sound that bad to me.

I don't know for sure but I think the stock bolts are 25mm so that does not seem like too long.

I've come across these ones by Dinan for $77 + $33 for Dinan bolts…

https://www.dinancars.com/products/w...arts/D210-2041

But, wondering if the reason they recommend 45mm bolts is because they don't offer 43mm?

Guarantee that the car will have vibrations in the steering wheel using these.

These cars are very sensitive to spacers and steering wheel shake at speed. Future classic are the best because they are installed to the hub with longer supplied hub bolts and not just thrown on the outside and attached with lug nuts.

Give them a shot and report back. For $30 bucks I mean?

Make sure to use copper anti-seize so they don't 'stick'. But all should be OK so long as you don't stress them, like HPDE/track stuff.

For fitment and just riding around you should be good.

Give them a shot til you hit a pothole and your wheel is rolling down the road and you're not.

If that happens that makes me.believe the studs or bolts failed, not a spacer (and that has happened to me at autocross)

I run Amazon spacers without vibration. Just make sure they are hubcentric

Name brand Spacers are made of the same material has the cheap ones.
The only pair of spacers I ran that were fancy were billed spacers from jmfab on a previous track car

I got these.

15 mm in the front. 12 mm in the back.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

then I got wheel studs from FCP

https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...12x1578mmbrskt

car has felt perfectly fine. If anyone is losing a wheel I think it could be because their bolt was too short. Wheel studs fix the problem.

So, we actually bought a few of those Amazon spacers for a Lemons car. One of my teammates owns a fabrication shop, but it was less work to start from, and we needed something oddball as hell.

The short answer is that they were nowhere close to flat. Unlike most folks, my teammate could make them flat, but it would cost you more to get a machinist to make them flat than it would to just buy good spacers in the first place.

I will note that spacers dramatically increase the sensitivity to surface condition and bolt torque technique.

Why not trust Turner? They are a well respected BMW race team/shop. I have the Turner spacers and they are top quality. The Turner spaces also have slots where you can pry them off in case they get stuck on the hub.

Turner race team is not affiliated with Turner shop. I believe they divested the retail business a while back.

That said, definitely would support those products over Amazon. I really don't get why folks cheap out over a $100 on what are critical safety components.

They were at least engineered by Turner, mind you. Not sure about newer products, but the E9x products were. These days, it's ECS Tuning all the way down....

Interesting. I did not know that.

Either way the spacers are great quality.

ECS Tuning also shut down the Turner retail operation after they bought it and fully folded it into the ECS infrastructure.

So the wheel stud kit is just to make wheel installation easier? (which is not difficult to begin with)… Wouldn't the extra cost be more justified to spend on top quality spacers?

Turner should be okay, however I think Dinan would be an even better choice.

But wouldn't 45mm bolts be too long for 15mm spacers?

Correct the stud conversion is simply for ease of installation. If you track your car and swap wheels a lot the bolts are a huge PITA.

Go with Dinan if you like, but I'm guessing you've never had to get a stuck spacer off a hub before.

45mm is probably fine as the 15mm Turner kit comes with 43mm bolts.

Oh right, didn't realize Dinan's didn't have the cutouts.

I've always used plenty of anti seize during installation to never have to have dealt with a truly stuck spacer, but the cutouts are indeed a nice perc.

BW, Apex, and MS Hardware are cost effective options.

Just realized that although the Dinan spacers don't have notches, they do have a chamfered edge all around on the interior edge, which could be used to easily pry them off in the event they get baked on.
