Dying Upon Start Up
Having a new issue (lovely) with start up when cold. Will start up right away, turn over, but idle will immediately drop too low and kill the motor. I can start up a second time, give it a little gas and car will rev then drop down to idle and stick ~1k and run fine from there on out. Usually if the car sits after a drive (warm) and I try and start it again shortly after it will fire right up.
Of note - I have been having some battery issues lately that I've been trouble shooting. Not sure if the two are related.

Get your battery and alternator tested. Is there any more background you can give on the car? Usage, age, miles, recent service, codes? Context helps. Has it ever had the fuel vent valve replaced?

Battery recently died completely while on a battery tender. I picked up a better AGM specific battery tender after some recommendations by others that brought the battery back to life and seems to have solved the problem. Otherwise battery is only ~1yr old. May end up having it tested again just to make sure there was no permanent damage. Car is 2012 w/ 53,500 miles. I perform most of the service myself. Recently installed AA pulley when I was doing the alternator. Had a shop install new BBK and oil change while it was up, tires, etc. Car went in to limp mode a few weeks ago with what looks like TA codes but has not thrown them again nor gone back into limp mode since. Fuel breather valve has not been replaced. Doesn't this lead to bouncing idle? If so idle isn't bouncing, just not holding upon initial start up and killing the motor.

At that mileage it's really possible that your TA or idle control valve are bad. Also is your IBS cable plugged in?

Ya I'm pretty sure TAs are on their last leg. Will order a pair here shortly. Idle control valve I'm not sure. Not sure on IBS cable either - that's just the negative battery terminal cable right? I'll double check it this afternoon.
