Warranty recommendations for e9X m3
I just bought an e92 m3 from a bmw dealership. But I'm planning on getting a warranty with it.
I know bmw has there own one but they don't have it on cars that are over 5 years old. Is there any recommended brands you think I should go with? And if you guys have any personal experience with these company's? I know CNA is pretty good, my dad has it in his Durango SRT. Thank you very much for the help and have a great rest of your day, Matt |

Any good warranty is going to cost you a couple grand. I'm of the opinion that you should just keep that money set aside for any unexpected repairs. Preventative maintenance is the way to go with this car though. Did you get maintenance history with the car?

I bought a warranty from Carmax on my e93 then promptly voided it through the mods I decided to do. General wisdom is to use the funds to do rod bearings and or throttle actuators, instead of warranty on a 9-15 yo car.

There are a bunch of older threads on this that you can search through but you should expect to pay a pretty penny for an aftermarket warranty for an M3 of this vintage at this point. Most warranty companies seem to have gotten wise to the costs of this car.
I had a 2 year/24K aftermarket warranty from USAA/Assurant that I bought 4 years ago for about $2,800 (IIRC) that I did get quite a bit of value out of (new valve cover gaskets, new DCT mechatronics gaskets, new differential, new thermostat and sensor, and some other items - over $10k worth at the dealer) but they no longer offer it, and other quotes for similar warranties were $4-6k 4 years ago. I'd imagine it's more expensive now, which suggests you'd likely be better off saving the cash and using it at an indy when you have issues. And to boot, I still ended up shelling out a few grand for RB's, motor mounts, etc. on my own at an Indy because they weren't covered under warranty.
