Heated steering wheel retrofit problems
Hi All
I hope someone can assist me, I purchase the required items for retrofiting a heated steering wheel, i.e. heated wheel, updated szl, switch and required wiring and inner junction box. The install all seemed okay and all existing wheel buttons and paddles etc are fully working. After coding option 248 via VO and then verifying via bimmercode (appropriate modules are active), the heated wheel switch illuminates but the wheel does not heat. I also recieve an error for faulty cruise control everytime I start the car even though cruise is fully functional. An ISTA scan find the following error. Any thoughts on what could be wrong? Many thanks |

If I remember correctly heated steering wheel doesn't need any coding, it is simple switch on/off operation. So I would start with basic things, checking connections first.

So I have taken everything apart to check and I think I might have a show stopper.
My car did not have lane assist etc so looking at wiring connections to the SZL it looks like I do not have the power and ground needed for the heated steering wheel. Hence why the LRE is missing. I only have 2 wires on the circled cable for reference. Reading around it looks like folks with F30s without vibration have run spare wires from the airbag plug to the LRE but I am not sure I am comfortable with that. I could be worng so it would be great if someone could confirm? |
