Car Noise when OFF

About 5-10min after i parked my car at the beach with the key out of the ignition slot, my car seems to be doing something. Sounds like vents closing, CD drive running, buzzing and what not. Sounds electrical. Can anyone shed some light as to what its doing? Just curious.

It's probably the vents. I know the vents would fully close on my old e46 after being shut down.

Although, I haven't noticed this in my e90 yet.

I've noticed that noise too. Sounds like the DVD or CD drive is still spinning or as if the drive is trying to read something.

I too always wondered what that was!!

Can't forget about the navigational DVD that's running as well for some reason.

I hear that noise too, It did the same in my 07 335i.
And i don't have idrive in the M3, nor did the 335.
Plus w/o a CD in the radio.

The sound is like a small humm, then buz.. cloke sound.

It not the residual heat ither, because when that on you hear the pump and fan motor.

Depending on engine temp the fan will remain on until a certain setpoint is reached.

Also as PencilGeek said the control units will enter sleep mode after a period of time to prevent excessive current draw so that you dont come back to a car with a flat battery

Mine does the same and it definitely sounds like a disc drive spinning up.
