Can someone with BimmerLink check something for me?
Hi,
I can see on BimmerLink that I’m getting some misfires on my car. It’s a 2018 ZCP w/ 25k miles on it and 100% stock. It used to be cyls 5 and 6 upon cold start up (usually 20-30 total on 5 and only a few on 6). Took it to the dealer who said they replaced the valve cover gasket due to an air leak (didn’t look like any work was performed but under warranty so whatever). Then a week later the CEL came on with the code for misfires in 5 and 6. They replaced the plugs and coils for 5 and 6 after testing the others out (swapping 3-4 with 5-6 according to the docs). Now I’m noticing misfires on pretty much all cylinders. Upon startup only a few but the cylinder that has the misfire changes. I’m also noticing that there are misfires when driving. I never checked before if this was the case. Bimmerlink tends to reset the count every couple of minutes as well so don’t know how many misfires I’m getting in total during a drive cycle. My warranty expires in a few days so I’m going to take it in again but I don’t have a CEL this time. I can only provide bimmerlink as evidence and ask them to look at it again for the 3rd time. Can someone pls add the misfire count to their BimmerLink Sensor values page and monitor their misfire counts for cyls 1-6 during a cold start and also maybe a drive cycle? I am wondering if any of this is normal (doesn’t seem normal to me), but then again the car isn’t throwing a CEL so not sure what to do here. What could trigger all cylinders to have a misfire like this? I want to see if I can talk to a tech at the dealer which seems unlikely. Below are some screenshots of my BimmerLink. Thanks in advance
