A (perhaps) New Crank Hub Question
Is there any easy way to know if your crank hub has been upgraded or replaced if you are the third or fourth owner down the chain. Let me know!

There's not a way to know for sure without taking it apart and inspecting the hub. What most do is use a stick-mirror to look down at the inspection caps on the front of the engine down by the side of the hub. The originals have a build code written on them, and replacements are either blank or have the new install date written.
See part numbers 3 and 14 in the diagram:

By videotaping the pulley wheel from the outside you will find if there is CBC. You don't get any real information about the updated crank hub.
And video inside of the machine, you cannot say for sure whether the hub has been updated or not. (For example Vargas V2) |
