Would you buy a M4 without break in service?
Thinking of replacing my wife's m550i with this, but it doesn't show any service during the last owner? Would you pass?

When I was shopping for my X3MC a few years back, the car history/carfax didn't show a break in service either. I asked my local service advisor to look up the VIN on his computer, and it showed the break-in service completed along with a few other services that I didn't see. Might be worth while to ask a dealer's service department to look into it if you're a familiar face with them

Morn,
CarFax doesn't always have all the data. I would ask for the selling dealer to look up the service history in their system. When I purchased my F80, the CarFax showed a "service" near and around the break in 1200mi, but it was unclear what was done. I called my BMW dealer and one of the SA's looked up the history, and confrimed the 1200mi service had been done. He also confirmed a bunch of routine maintenance had been done that also was not on the CarFax. Clean looking F82. Good luck with your investigation! josh |

I don't think it would be a deal-breaker for me. That being said, I did the 1200 service on my (now sold) M4, and the M3 I have now shows that the 1200 service was done. More important, IMO, would be a solid PPI (including compression/leakdown test). Good luck either way!
