i7 745/750?

Hi all, been away for a bit, trying to get caught up on the latest news. Looking to get an i7 to replace my 2021 7, but don't want to get the M60 variant. Would prefer more range/less speed tradeoff. Is there any news on when other non M version will be released in the US?

I don't think you're going to see a detuned i7. The M designation for these cars is style more than substance. They're not track cars. For the gas version of course there is a 740 along with the 760.

I think its likely they will have a two wheel drive variant.

Why do you think it is likely? I'm curious. (The 7 is a big car and may need the 2 electric motors). But maybe I am missing something. Certainly have not read anything that leads me to believe more than one electric variant of the 7 is planned.

There are at least two variants I think? The current i7 x60, and the upcoming i7 M70.

If that is so, the M70 variant is not going to be a detuned, 2wd, less expensive model.

Oh of course, but I think there is scope for a detuned normal i7 by removing the front drive unit perhaps.

BMW sells a "detuned" iX 40 everywhere but the US, you can only get the iX50 and M60. I highly doubt they would sell a "detuned" i7 here since they are using the same set up for the i7 that is in the iX (i7 60 is the same as the iX50 so assuming the i7 M70 would be the same as the iX M60)

Well, I hope you are right for your sake, but I would be surprised if they do this any time soon. Certainly 2wd electric would have a future. Some of the answer may lie in how well the 4wd versions sell; if sales tail off they could be impelled to bring out a lower cost electric option.

750e PHEV

I think the 750e PHEV will be announced late this spring as a 2024 model in the US. I have the 745e PHEV now and the 50+ mile range and increase in electric horsepower is very tempting. My main complaint now is that in EV-only mode, the car is as slow as a dog but I faithfully burn through the 18-20 in electric before the engine comes on. I know I'd get more power and the rumble of a nice 6 cylinder in Hybrid mode but I like to know that I used all the electric I can. But I think it's got like 90hp and that's just not enough beyond cruising around town. The 750e should solve that. (If you run the 745e in Sport mode, you have 350+ hp and it's faster than the 740i 0-60, but in other modes it can be much slower. Very unique vehicle).
