Signature Works ZL1 brakes

I am considering the Signature Works ZL1 caliper upgrade and was wondering if anyone here has experience with this setup. I would use the F80 rotors they provide for now but would probably use the Turner set once they are spent. Also like the pads that are available for these calipers as well. Will be mostly street but I do try to run a few SCCA track nights a year that this set up would see. Thanks and here are some links to what I am considering.

Not much is known about this kit or company, there’s been a couple post on the e9x m3 owners Facebook group about the company that always ends with no real answers/data and badly on their end. They’ve removed their “Porsche 17z kit” and have only been selling these with plans to sell a suspicious AP kit next…

That's a bummer. What are your thoughts on this companies M2C conversion? I was considering this one as well but liked the pricing and pad selection with the camaro calipers.

The M2C brakes are a great OEM plus option for brakes considering they use a bigger rotor than some other companies as well as the F8X. I’ve seen M2C brakes on sale on other sites for around $4600, so it would be close to 6k with those brackets.

On the flip side you can score some used brakes for 3-4K on the forums here, and then you buy those adapters after and potentially refresh the pads and/or rotors if needed.

Just as a heads up, if you contact Adam Hume at BuyBrakes he'll get you Stoptech Trophy kits for between $5000 and $5300 out the door depending on specs.

I paid $5300 for the nickel-plated set.

i got my ZL1 kit from signature a few months back and have since been daily driving the car and put over 2,000 miles on my setup. i ended up going with the 2 piece floating 380 mm rotor setup that they offer and have ABSOLUTLEY ZERO REGRETS. looks amazing and performs night and day better than stock. idk why people hesitate to try new companies based on reviews from most folk that haven’t even purchased the kit. you definitely won’t regret it brotha!

I’m thinking of doing this exact color to match my blue accents elsewhere in the car. Did they do the powder coating for you or did you take it to a third party place? What’s the name of the color and/or color code?
Thanks!

Thanks!!! Did you do the front and rear? I reached out to them haven't heard back from them yet about getting the calipers blue as well. Do you remember how long it took for you to get the kit delivered? Did you use the supplied pads and if so do you like them? Sorry for all the ?'s just nervous sending that much money out to a company I don't know yet.

I have no doubt you’ll get what you payed for but people have claimed, with evidence that the same rotors they run are being sold on Alibaba…

IF I were in your situation wanting a wallet friendly BBK I’d look into the Alfa Romeo/Maserati kit. It requires a little more work on your end (sourcing the caliper yourself, having it powder coated, and sourcing the brackets from a company that makes them already) but you know what you have also you can reuse your genuine OEM rotors…

Just to play devils advocate for the OP’s sake…what your describing is similar advice to buying the ZL1 calipers w/ pads, and then sourcing new F80 brakes off of ECS/turner etc. If the rotor quality is the major concern (being from Alibaba), then surely sourcing genuine F80 380mm rotors will be similar function and quality wise to using an alfa caliper as you described.

It's weird, seems like the people that endorse this brand or responded to skeptics had a similar tone to this, sounding like someone that got paid to plug the brand or sponsored.

I posted some questions about these products and the origin of the rotors in a facebook thread that was a total trainwreck and the owner of the company got pretty upset about it as someone else in this thread pointed out. He went on and on about the machining they do on the M3 retrofit porsche brakes and how much it costs, but those products are no longer for sale on their website just a few months later?

Later on got a DM from a guy who knew some people within the company and told me a lot of their products are fake and they pay people to run their kits and write reviews.

The owner of the company posted in a WRX group a few years ago asking for advice on how to remove brake hoses. Also running the same suspicious looking alibaba rotors they're selling with their kits. And now this same guy owns a company selling big brake kits for performance cars? It all seems like a stretch and I don't know why people would take the chance on a critical safety item.

I don't think the ZL1 calipers are radial mount either?

They’re not, They CLAIM to buy new ones then CNC the original mount off, however the only proof of this was a shotty video of a single caliper that is being CNC’d…

Review like this are meaningless. Car looks like a parking lot / IG queen.
Lets see it on a track with some quick laptimes to prove it can handle a beating.

Multiple track days with reports on pad life gets bonus points.
Even stock brakes with race pads can do okay, but you go through a full set of pads in a weekend if you are fast.
