Rear door control screens

Is there any way to lock or turn them off? Planning to buy a 740i but worried my son will mess with the settings and the screens too much in the back

Yes, you can set what functions are available in the rear screens in id8. I've got them turned off other than rear climate settings.

My granddaughter was in the back and I found this out pretty quickly.

How do you go about doing this? I am having trouble figuring it out. Thank you!

I don't remember but it was in the user manual. I do remember looking it up.

The rear screens cannot be disabled entirely.
They serve as the interface for climate control, seat adjustment, and power shades.
They are integral to the passenger experience.

You can however prevent them from being used to control media playback, driving modes, and ambient lighting.
I’ve even seen a menu option to prevent rear passengers from adjusting their seats too.

Thank you for reminding me what I did. I turned off the rear controls for media and modes and lighting. If you are chauffering people, then maybe letting them change settings is okay, but not with grandchildren.

My 3 year old loves to select the tunes we are jamming to ... me, not so much, but it keeps him quiet so I allow it
