Stop-sale/recall on passenger airbag

A couple of people asked me for my broker contact so I pinged them and he just told me about a stop-sale/recall for passenger airbags. I just checked my VIN and says 0 recalls but has anyone else heard anything about this?

I have this recall. It's about when the passenger seat is all the way forward, the airbag might not deploy on an accident.

My SA told me it is going to be fixed with software, but no fix yet.

Interesting. How can I check the VIN for recalls? I currently use bimmer.work but it doesn't give me recall status.

I picked up my car and got more of an update on the issue.

This issue is for cars that have the rear seat recliner package. When you recline the rear seat, the front seat automatically goes into the forward most position.

When it goes into the forward most position and the seat back goes all the way forward, it is supposed to deactivate the airbag. This is the basis for the recall. At times, it may not deactivate the air bag.

My SA advised me today the fix will be software and that it has not been released. It says that on my work order as well.

Also, My SA said this is only on cars that have the rear seat recliner option.

My SA and BMW NA said fix is available. I hope they are right. Mine arrives into port on 24 Feb.

Mine has been on "Technical Hold" for more than 2 weeks

My order has had a delivery block put on it by BMW AG for the same issue. It is very frustrating.

I think the factory in Dingolfing needs to improve its quality control as these i7s are supposed to be the best that BMW can produce. It is disappointing that the car, so early in its life cycle, is having so many technical problems associated with it.

I know how you feel. I am having the same situation. They should have checked for these defects before releasing the cars from factory.
