My baby got T-boned

Guy just pulled right into me from a side street. Might be totaled. Getting the repair appraisal on Monday. This sucks.

If totalled Im considering a 2016 MB AMG GTS to replace it. I’ve put so much money into this car I’m hoping if it’s totaled I can work out to buy it back at a low cost from the insurance and repair it on the cheap just enough to use it as a race track car only (which was always my ultimate plan at some point). We shall see. The passenger rear wheel is askew. Don’t know how deep that damage went into the suspension/frame. Ugh.

Sorry man you hate to see it. People are so unaware when driving in this country it's mind-blowing. Last night I had a guy oncoming the wrong way on a one way and as I'm flashing my lights and honking he starts flashing back like I'm the one who's doing something wrong. Luckily that 1 way street had 2 lanes. Hopefully everyone was able to walk away from this and best of luck on the rebuild if you do decide to go down that path.

Sorry to see it but glad you’re alright. Who do you have for insurance? They’re generally pretty quick to total these cars once there is suspension damage

Sorry for your loss. I’ve had all 4 of our BMW’s hit except for my M3 ((crossing fingers) it’s such a big drag when this happens.
I see the deployed airbag and the right rear wheel is looking like a 99% total.
I would do like you said, fix it, track it, and keep her forever.

Update: Insurance says they are likely going to total the car. Im collecting all my receipts for my mods to try and get them covered as well. The other guys insurance is accepting fault. Not sure yet what his coverage is.

Don't think Insurance will cover the mods items.

You never know. My insurance company covered all my aftermarket parts that were damaged from an accident. New Eventuri intakes (intakes were still usable, just some dings and scuffs), carbon hood, carbon front lip and Vorsteiner rear diffuser (tow truck driver fucked up the diffuser).

Not sure about other companies - but in the Progressive policy you can add the mods to your car's profile. I have not done...as I just assume the premiums will be higher (much less, the wife who pays the bills would see). You need to enter the value and show your receipts of purchase when entering the info.

I have Geico and I don't believe they cover mods, but I just told my adjuster I bought the car with all the parts included and told him I was very adamant about getting my car back to the original state of which I purchased it. Essentially he told me to get a quote for all the parts and he'll see what he can do. He sent it all over to the body shop and they included it in their assessment. I was pretty much given a blank check to order all the parts and have it shipped to the body shop.

I know I got pretty lucky with it and I'm sure it's not very common.

You can definitely add it to your policy and pay for it. I did it for my wheels on my other car. Not sure they’ll cover it if your car was stock when you took out the policy and then added mods

Correct. Just coming up from the Ralphs shopping center. He came hurdling out of the Sycamore Canyon Apt complex (my passenger side luckily)

I was rear ended and both parties had geico. I submitted receipts for my CF spoiler and diffuser and geico paid it in the claim. It came out to about 2500.

I asked the body shop to keep the diffuser since it only had a scratch on it but someone threw it away (or took it…). As a result of their mistake they bought me a new one (and didn’t deduct it from thr 2500 check I got). That worked out in the end.

I think since you were not at fault you have a better chance of getting mod money back. It will probably also depend on how much you sunk into it. If you had 20k in mods, it’ll be tougher.

That being said I don’t know why insurance wouldn’t pay out for mods if it wasn’t your fault. I mean what’s the diff between hitting a 50k modded f80 or a 50k stock S550?
