ordering new i7

Hi guys!

My wife and I went car shopping and ended up driving an i7. This was unexpected as my wife’s major requirement for her new car is that it’s an SUV. I was happy she was willing to try as I am a sedan guy myself.

Overall we were both blown away (after getting over the looks) and have started looking at ordering one!

Unfortunately it seems that you can’t get a TV right now due to chip shortage (how long can this be an actual excuse!) so we started kinda looking around online. It seems a little challenging however to figure out which ones have which option package etc.

Wanted to see what kind of experience others are having these days. I also read in this forum that some Bay Area dealers were giving discounts? My dealer (Central Valley CA) said msrp.

Thanks guys!

If you are trying to figure out something in stock and want to search whats at or coming to dealers around you, bmw’s own inventory website is solid and lets you filter by specific options https://www.bmwusa.com/inventory/

This new 7 Series is so big and tall and has such a huge trunk that it's basically just as useful as a SUV. I'm not sure if the back seats fold down, but that would give you even more cargo room. The all wheel drive system kicks ass and hitting the lift button for the air suspension is great when going through deep snow. I would take this over an X5/X7 any day. It's way more comfortable and a lot more fun to drive than an SUV.

This is exactly what happened to me. Went to test drive X7 but saw a 760 there so was curious to drive it and ended up buying the 760 over X7 for the reasons you said

I worked with a broker that got me 11% off from a Bay Area dealer but the same broker said 0% discount on the i7 so I don’t know if there’s a discount to be had on the electric model. On the 760 you should be able to get 8-11%.

Ah I see thanks for the info. That makes sense here in CA. Everyone wants to buy an electric car!
Thanks!

If you are willing to travel there are discounts. I found 4% off in SoCal. So it will be a road trip to get mine when it is ready.

Okay cool. Not too far from me! Do you mind sharing which dealership?

Also it seems we can’t order rear tv right now due to chip shortage. Anyone heard an update on this?

The chip shortage issue is just an excuse.
