Bluetooth version no longer compatible - After esim installation
Hi Guys,
After I hooked up the esim device on my car I turned off the car normally and started it the next day. Now the esim device won't read and neither does the bluetooth system. I cannot connect my phone to the car to make calls, listen to music or even activate carplay. I know for a fact many of us have issues with the esim, but has anyone had a similar issue/fix for this?? Picture attached

Update:
So there was a recall to update the system including bug fixes for the bluetooth and esim issues. Took the car to the dealers yesterday. Hopefully it will be fixed once and for all

I'll advise on that once I receive the car back. I'm pretty sure the carplay issue is similar to mine as they all use bluetooth to connect

I received an over the air update a few days ago. It didn’t really say what it updated but mention improvements in functionality and added features. I assume everyone received this? Might be the fix you needed.

That sucks, I had the same issues as you a week ago, I figured it had been fixed since I didn’t have any issues this week.

I took the car to the dealer, supposed to update it but advised me that they were instructed to stop the update due to system glitches. I'm supposed to take it again but haven't had time. Still having the issue

Bluetooth and CarPlay issues
The Bluetooth compatibility issues just recently started on all 3 of my BMW’s. My 2021 X3, 2021 M5 Comp with iDrive 7 allow connection to the iPhone 14 running 16.4 randomly. I’ve deleted them several times, deleted the cars from the phone etc but it doesn’t help. If I just start driving and wait it will connect at a random interval. That didn’t happen before I updated the iPhone to 16.4.
On the 2023 X7 with iDrive 8 Bluetooth and CarPlay worked flawlessly in the beginning before I updated the iPhone. Now I receive the Bluetooth is not compatible message. I’ll try the reset on the X7 by holding the volume knob down. I’m not sure how to reset the X3 or the M5 so if anyone could share that information it would be greatly appreciated. I’m thinking it has something to do with the iPhone operating system upgrade but if anyone has insights please share. |

i was at my dealer yersterday and complained (same issue).
i just got the feedback that there is an update for iDrive 8.5 - i guess this will fix this issue (what pisses me off most is re-pairing the eSIM reader...) |

so, i got my car back
the standard OS update didn't fix the problem - BMW decided to fix this and provide the update today - i picked up the car in the afternoon... an wow, the eSIM connected perfectly and everything... BUT... the glove box didn't open - i got a little tool symbol and the system said: contact dealer, mechanism for glove box broken... good i didn't leave the parking lot - they checked, from their diagnosis device it opens perfectly. so... i'll have to bring the car again once this is fixed... |
