I have been having a problem semi frequently for several months. I get the drive train error and car goes into limp mode. seems to happen under both light loads and heavy. seems the tranny gets lost for a second or two and downshifts then upshifts and boom the error.

when I check the error codes with ISTA+ I see only these.
1. 273A00 DDE internal fault injector deactivation at high engine speed during torque restriction.
2. 276400 DDE internal fault

both are not present after a restart but stored in memory. #1 is from trying to go faster then limp mode permits. its #2 that has me worried.

I have never been able to drive for 3-40 min at 2500 rpm or higher to regen the DPF, due to short narrow road and way to much traffic in Costa Rica. so I am wondering if anyone has done the region using ISTA+.

other thought is to update the DDE module using esys to latest version and see if that helps as its from 2017.

thanks

Yes I did. Was a few things. First I discovered that someone before me put a bad trans tune in and so I decided to reflash all modules to current iSteps version as my car was on a 2018 software version. That removed all the custom tuning of engine and trans. And problem was gone. But I then learned how to do custom programming using Esys (same program I flashed all the ECU’s with to latest iSteps) and have added many features using both Esys, bimmerUtility and bimmercode pgms.
Good luck

No car was flash tuned. But never found out by who. Maybe just some local shop here in Costa Rica. When I flashed latest istep updates I write bmw latest programs to all ECU modules.

Someone who owned my car before me, had a flash engine and transmission tune done. It was of poor quality and caused the transmission to shift up and down under very light loads. It was like it couldn’t decide what gear and often downshifted very hard causing me to lift foot from gas. That behavior is why I re-installed factory bmw software using the program Esys.

I think maybe better to find someone in Poland better with English. I’ve tried to explain 3 time now. I think maybe you don’t understand what flashing an ECU means. Two of the cars computer control units where bad because someone before me changed the software. I restore the engine ECU and the transmission control unit (ZF8HPTU). To the factory software. If you need more help my friend in Poland can help you better understand he speaks English. Ph is +48 605 033 064. Name is Wojtek.
