They are on heavy drugs with that price!

Having the i7 x60 and iX M60 I can definitively tell you it is not worth the $45k base price premium for a little more speed

Our iX M60 is marginally better than the x50, id imagine it’s the same.

Now if you really want to blow your wad, here’s BMWs $425k+ EV:

I paid full MSRP for my iX M60 because they were impossible to find at the time which was around $120K. The only option I don’t have is the blue seatbelts which I wish I had. Getting a similarly equipped i7 M70 would cost me just North of $200K. That’s a huge difference for the sake of luxury! It’s definitely a car you’re supposed to be driven in.

You scored paying full MSRP. We paid well over for both of our iX M60s (and both 50s at the time). Now....there are big discounts. Crazy change of pricing!

That means our trade-in values are going to be just awful. We will all be getting effed.

$200k AND it has a transmission hump/tunnel making this EV feel like an ICE compromise from the get-go. NO WAY! NO SALE! BMW must take its customers for fools.

Does the i7 or i5 have a frunk? You're not a true EV platform without one!

Of course. NOT. They are basically taking the existing 5-Series/7-Series chassis and modifying it for EV use which begs the question - why in the world does the iX not have one considering it was a brand new platform built from the ground up? After all, there’s no transmission hump/tunnel…

A front trunk? Like a 1970's VW?

I have zero qualms with the hump on the i7. It's not the kind of car where I would want to seat 3 in the back anyway. Even if it did have a flat floor, I would probably option it with the Rear Executive Lounge Seating anyway.

I see lots of crossover between the Spectre and the 7. I'm not sure I agree with the choice of the RR grill but I get why they want to stick with it. Just seems like the equivalent of putting a vintage Boyce Motometer temperature gauge on a modern ICE vehicle.

I love the i7, though. It's not for me as it's just too long of a car to be practical but I wouldn't turn one down to take on a road trip. Maybe BMW will release an EV Gran Touring using the platform. Something the size of the old 6 or current 8.

I’m with you on this one…. I would actually prefer the extended center console going up to the dash. It would be great having wireless charging pads at an angle as opposed to down towards the floor. BMW could have engineered a solution to allow some additional space under the hood for storage. But why do that when it’s so much easier just to reuse the chassis you already have?

Yes, even the i3 had one. Also, the iX hood is just barely sloped. If you were styling to make the front of the vehicle much lower than the windshield, that might be a reasonable excuse why you have no frunk. But the front of the iX is essentially a big box!

My EV has a transmission hump, because it has a transmission. I do prefer the flat floor, but it isn’t a deal breaker. It also has a frunk, which I will never use. BMW is crazy trying to charge these prices, the XM and i7 M70 are horrendously overpriced.

yup. I paid $94.5k for my ix50 ($87k after the tax rebate).

As of a month ago, when I was looking to just trade it rather than wait 3-6 months for a major repair to be done, the trade-in value (assuming no accident) was $61k at 9000 miles just 10 months later. I know depreciation is rough at around 20-25% after one year, but 36% after 10 months??

I'd be careful about spending anything close to i7M70 money on an EV at this stage in the game unless the money truly didn't matter.

I think I may be leasing my next vehicle for the first time. This is one effing I would like to avoid again.

well, especially if you're leasing a luxury EV right now, you're crazy not to lease. The $7500 tax credit is instant and not subject to income or MSRP requirements.

And if you really hate the idea of leasing a vehicle, just buy it off lease the next day and just pay the $500 or whatever the lease disposition fee is.

BMW wasn’t passing that tax credit to the consumer at that point in time… I bought mine in January.

Yeah they started advertising this some time in March or April. Basically around the time inventory started stacking up after people stopped buying cars.

Leasing makes lots of sense in states that tax based on your lease rather than the entire value of the car and if you like to turn over cars every three years. Here in WA I would have to keep a car for about 6 years to break even on most vehicles.

I paid msrp for my iX as well … it was a June 2023 build so I got the “old pricing” so it was fully equipped without the bronze bits and blue belts for $115.5k

My i7 I got for 10% off MSRP, and I leased it since the tax credit was gone as of October 2022. I did see they are passing through the tax credit on i7 leases as of July 2023, but money factor shot way up and residual dropped 3 points, so the credit passthrough is essentially all gobbled up.

I’m very happy with my i7 well optioned at $136k for $123k. It’s so much more vehicle than the iX for not a large premium. I was holding out for an i5 M60 but that range is just awful…. So went on the hunt for i7 deals. I even found one with a rear theater screen so the boys are quite happy with the option!

I wish I could have leased my iX for a reasonable monthly / OnePay at the time…. I’m just waiting for the ass rape when I go to sell it in a couple years
