Windshield Tint

I've read that tinting the windshield helps the ability to see the HUD while wearing polarized sunglasses. Can anyone tell me if this is the case if Clearplex or another film is installed on outside of the windshield? I only wear polarized sunglasses, thanks

Windshield tint is installed on the inside. I had Llumar F1 UV clear windshield tint installed, its about 85%, provides more UV protection, but it had the added benefit of increasing the visibility of the HUD with polarized glasses!

Thanks, I'm asking if I put a protective film on the outside ie Clearplex will I get the same benefit? I'm guessing I either protect the windshield from rock chips, etc and get new sunglasses or I just get the windshield tinted. I'm not familiar with the protective films. I've read that they can distort vision slightly

I have tint inside the windshield and don’t recall seeing any benefit to seeing HUD with polarized sunglasses. I switched to non-polarized sunglasses.

Thanks, it might be time for some new shades. I would prefer to protect the windshield, of course it has the uv protection, etc.

Maybe you can find someone local who has windshield tint and is willing to let you check it out in person. Maybe there is a benefit and I just didn’t notice (or wanted new sunglasses).

BMW sells polarized glasses that work with the HUD

certain window tints may work too. just depends on what degree they are polarizing the light.
