Regrets About Buying the F80 New? Seeking Insights Before Getting the G80 LCI
I'm considering purchasing the G80 LCI when it releases next summer, which would be my first brand-new car. To help inform my decision, I'm curious about the experiences of those who bought the F80 new from a dealership. Did any of you come to regret that choice later on? If so, what were your reasons? Specifically, I'm interested in any insights or experiences that might lead someone to say, "I wouldn't buy it all over again."

This is the wrong group to talk about the G8X platform….
Bottom line, do what you want, not what others think. Both are great. |

I have never read of people who have regretted having bought a new or used F80, but I have read, also on this forum, of people who have regretted the G80 and have bought an F80 again...

What does the G80 LCI have to do with a new F80? Last new one was 5 years ago.

I've never driven the G8x. I've had 2 F82s since 2015. My current 2020 has 28k miles and still feels new to me. I love to drive it. Once I get tired of driving it, I'll explore a new M car.
I have no issue with the G8x looks. It's a technologically superior car, and has more creature comforts than the F8x. For me I guess it comes down to value. To me it isn't worth getting scalped on my trade and then paying sticker or close to for a new G8x. Sure, I could sell it privately, but who has time for that? I think I'd enjoy the G8x, but my F82 is paid off, has low miles, and I still enjoy it. I like the F82 better than the E92. I'm not sure I'd like the G82 better than the F82. G80 is comfier, quieter and has adaptive cruise. it's got better turn in and is super capable on track.
F80 is more raw and visceral in comparison. more playful and fun even at lower speeds, too. quite loud on hwy. drive both and see for yourself

Just like we've seen with the G8X, multiple people bought F8Xs and then sold them and went back to E9Xs. It also happened with the E9X and E46... and whenever it happens, people who own those cars crow that they have the 'real' M3...

I’ve bought a G82, brand new from a dealer.
Be smart. Don’t be me, buy an F8x. |

the most negative part if this thing can be a bit of a money pit. However the pit is shallow - there isn't much you need to do the improve the platform. I'm finding excuses to upgrade things... now I'm stuck with just enjoying the car... which is terribly fun.

If you plan on tracking your car, the G80 is much heavier and will therefore incur higher brake pad and tire costs.
I would consider the G80 over the F80 if I wasn't going to track it and I wanted xDrive and more power. |

But at that rate, the SUV line is their best product IMO. The new X3/5 and their M variants >>>> their coupes and sedans for this gen

I cannot speak to the G80 because I've never driven one; however, I owned three F80s (Base, ZCP, and CS) and never regretted owning those cars. I'm a serial car hopper, like many here, and the F series M3s were in many ways one of the many highlights of my automobile journey. I was thoroughly impressed with the CS and thought it was by far the best of the lot I owned. The F80 was great and I believe history will remember it favorably.

The first year was kinda expensive getting the car how I want it. However it quickly gets to a point where you are weighing the benefits of doing anything else.

I love my f82 that I got new and still have. Market was different then, most were sold at discount + incentives. Was financially lucrative also much better looking car than g8x lol.

Zero regrets. MY15 F82 M4-6MT, ordered new. Love this car. At 25k miles, OEM + mods, F82 will now be the official garage queen upon arrival of
MY24 G82 M4 x-drive just ordered.

I got my MY18 ZCP a year ago and it’s by far the most enjoyable car I have ever driven. As described before, I have been debating on adding things to the car as I really enjoy it. I’m kinda on an interior binge atm 😅, got the MP V1 steering wheel, alcantara dry carbon trim, and MP shift knob.
