Hi all.
Just had the egr recall completed on my 2018 X5 m50d. While at the dealers they “broke something” and kept the car for an extra day to rectify. When questioned the reply was vague (brittle clips or something was the exact response). However. Now we have the car back we’ve noticed instantly that it’s down on power. I’d estimate by as much as 20%. And it sounds like a truck. Not refined like it used to be. More like a 100,000 mile diesel transit van. So… is this the egr recall causing this or have they messed something else up in the process. If anyone with the same car can reply to confirm if they noticed simillar issues I’d appreciate it before I call the dealer tomorrow and start the moaning. It’s so bad that the car is now not fit for purpose. Overtaking for example is dangerous. It’s slow to react and does not take off like it used to do. Yes it’s still fast. But not as fast as it should be. Current mileage 45k miles egr done at 43k ish. Pfa

can't speak to this since i don't have a diesel but you've gone 2k miles since the replacement and haven't spoken to the dealer? i'd expect some push back on their part considering the amount of miles that have passed.

Probably more like 1k. Don’t pay too much attention to that.
It was done last week. We’ve done a fair few miles in a week. And I’ve bought 6 new cars from same dealer so that won’t be an issue (mpe on my m4 replaced free of charge 2 years after warrenty expired through good will). I just need to know if the egr recall will cause lower power output for any reason. My point being if that’s the case I should have been pre warned. And if I was I would not have done the recall. They tested the existing part and found no fault so it was only changed as there was a recall. If it does impact power then next question is how do we delete the egr?

Anyone with the uk version able to comment? It could well be the issues are not egr related but whatever they damaged and “fixed” while doing the recall

Update if anyone searches this in future.
Spoke to main dealer. Yes the recall can effect power. But a tiny percentage that most won’t notice. I notice. They’ve offered to bring the car back in and give it a full check over just in case something else is wrong. He also mentioned the egr recall will cause higher fuel consumption as well (doesn’t bother me). Posting for info for others. Once it’s been looked at I’ll add another update.
