Did the design of the fuel tank breather valve change?

Did the injectors last night, and was planning on also doing the breather valve, but it was late and I saw a 2018 date code on it so left it alone. Did they change the design to something longer lasting now, or should I keep the spare around (vs returning it)?

Personally I’d just return it. 2018 is pretty new and I doubt it would be close to failing anytime soon. Removing the plenum is an easy job anyways so should it actually fail it’s not a huge problem to swap out

Leaning that way too, but if the design is the same it’s almost as old as the original. 2018 replacement part in a 2011 model with already 5 out of 7 years :/

And yeah, easy job — I think I’m under 30 minutes a now to pull it.

It’ll fail again, but realistically how long will you keep the car?

What, you mean owning 3 diff e9x m3s in 3 consecutive years implies something about my likely ownership term of this one?!

Yeah, fair. I do like doing all the preventative things but plenum is back on and it’s going back to fcp.
