2023 vs 2024 I7

Hi all, I have googled with no luck. Does anyone know the difference in these 2 model years?

Wife has given permission to let the X7 go for an I7 😍 so I thought it would be worth looking into. Have not decided. Doing a VS model year is a good start.

Android, Lidar, IDRIVE 9 and maybe a few small build options

Thank you for that. My favorite sales manager did not know, but he wanted me to get the 2024 as well. He had a couple of 23s but he said he did not want me to be a beta tester :-)

I didn't think the current 2024 builds include lidar. Do they?

Not to impugn your veracity but this is the first time I've heard anything about iDrive 9. I certainly read before that the 2024 G70s come with the iDrive 8.5 but haven't heard of it going to iDrive 9. But if so, GREAT! Would you be able to post a link to your source on that? I'd enjoy reading about it and what the difference is! Thx!

IDRIVE 9 is using the Android platform. Looks identical to 8.5 except it’ll have an application store.

iDrive9 is not available yet except for X1, upcoming iX1 and the 2 series. BMW released a press release about it a few weeks ago. No word on when the G70 will get it..

Once everyone understands the requirements of IDrive 9, then the light bulb will come on to which vehicles are capable of getting it. My 23 740i won’t get it but 24’s have all the necessary workings for it.

IDrive 9 will not be available for G70 like it is for the X1 and other first cars. iDrive 9 is only going to be for smaller screen cars, like the X1 and without controller. Don’t think of iDrive 9 as the next iDrive system over iDrive 8 or 8.5 like you would with iDrive 7 to iDrive 8. They are side by side, and used in different platforms at essentially the same software level.

The amount of false information on the WWW makes my stomach hurt. Linux is out of the window and we will now be using Android base which will be in the newer 7 series soon. They are essentially not on the same software level as the App Store will be a game changer. 23 Models are shjf out of luck. I understand you’re limited to online information and your convictions on this matter sounds factual to the reader but however………Im employed at an BMW Dealership and we’ve been brief about my information 2 months ago.

We’ll see in the future. For now iDrive 9 is only going to be on 2:1 screens, not 3:1 like the large curved displays in the i4, iX, G70. For right now, idrive 9 is only on the X1.
Idrive 9 is still brand new and of course it will go to other models soon in other iterations, but that information has yet to fully come out as we barely just started iDrive 8.5 on newest curved display vehicles.

That was my general understanding too. Otherwise, that dog don't hunt!

You have no other choice to be near sighted on this since you don’t have or unable to get the info I have. It’s totally understandable.
