In the US it is standard. Both '23s Ive had have had it. Is Canada different? I do think you need to set it up in idrive. I only use it it for radio volume.

Example of the embedded owners manual features in iDrive 7. If you have a different version of iDrive, it won’t “look” just like the images below…but the owners manual can still be found in iDrive. You may even be able to use Voice Control to open it. You probably can simply say “Hey BMW…Owners Manual” and it will show up on the display. You may even be able to say “gesture control” and not even have to search for it.

No problem…and another FYI…there are videos embedded in the iDrive owners manual, too. So there may even be a video on how to utilize gesture control. I’m only guessing since there are approximately 20 videos embedded in the iDrive 7 owners manual….there may or may not be a video…but again, if the option is installed, instructions will be in the owners manual.

The dealers take out the interior camera rendering the gesture control inactive. It's a useless and gimmicky feature anyway, but I'm not sure why they have been deleting it in Canada.

For one, my vehicle lacks the interior camera yet offers gesture control. To your point, this just might not be a feature the marketing team decided was worth offering by default on CA builds? This is all conjecture however. |

there is a gesture camera somewhere (haven't been able to locate it yet) the interior camera for taking pictures would be located just next to the SOS button. they are two independent systems. if i cover my interior cam, gesture is still working - so it can't be that hope that helps |

It is unlikely that dealers would remove a camera but in Canada the gesture control my be tunred off in the software. Still strange that they would do it.
