Alarm Install
Greetings,
I know there were a few posts about installing the alarm pre-launch, but now that many of you have your cars I was wondering how many of you had the dealer install the alarm? If so, how much did they charge? Also, how many of you just purchased the alarm and will install it yourself? Will you need to remove any of the wheels to install the horn/siren? Please advise. My CA already told me the alarms would cost $895 to install, yet it's listed at $250 on the BMWUSA website. I'm not going to get bent over for six-hundred bucks!! |

I'll be picking my 135i this Saturday, and in the meantime, I requested BMW to install the alarm for me, but after checking with the parts department, they realized it's not in stock yet. They said the alarm should arrive anytime now, and it will cost $650 installed. I will ask them for a deal or some kind of discount for the alarm when I pick up my car on Sat.

Wow, $650 is cheaper than what I was told. Thanks for your insight.
Anyone else with a factory alarm out there that you installed yourself? Details please! |

You could easily do it in the e46. I'm talking about a 20 minute job. You still had to have the dealer do a quick program of the computer to tell it you have an alarm. They'l probably charge you for an hours with of labor ($100 or so). Still cheaper than $900 installed. Thats ridiculous.

Do you guys have comfort access? How will it work w/ the alarm? (When you touch the handle, does it unlock AND disarm, or you still need to reach for the key to disarm, which then will defeat the purpose of having the keys in your pocket?)

I was quoted $250 for the alarm and about two hrs of install time = total $468 plus tx. Parts guy couldn't find the alarm for 1er, so he looked up a 328 vert alarm. Anyhow, they called a few days ago and said the alarm was in and will be installed prior to pickup (hopefully by end of April).

$365 installed, u can check to see how much your dealership charges on bmwusa.com
$250.00 Each price is the suggested retail price and is subject to change. Price excludes installation and taxes. Check pricing and availability at your local BMW Center If you click on that link on that page some dealerships will show you how they charge installed. |
