SoCal Drag Tracks
What is your personal favorites? How would you rate the local tracks?
Also...what is the closest track distance-wise to Irvine? I am trying to get a couple of my friends to come to the tracks so we can race but their excuse is the long drive to a track. (I think its just because they know ill smoke their ass but hey :biggrin |

Ansun,
SoCal only has 1 drag strip left available and that is Fontana (California Speedway). LACR in Palmdale is closed and so is Carlsbad in SD. Pomona is not open to the public, only NHRA events. There is a street legal drag next weekend at Fontana. I was thinking about going to get a baseline run. Want to come? Quote:

Damn, if I still lived in Cucamonga I'd be there in a nanosecond.

I've been racing @ california speedway in fontana for the last 2 1/2 years and you don't want to miss this weekend.
This is the last weekend to have decent times then the hot air in the summer really slows you down and any mods you do after this weekend will not be seen untill Oct. |

Yes, the next Street Legal Drags won't be until summer when it's hot as hell.
Looks like we're getting the 135i back on Thursday from KW so I'll be at Fontana this weekend. Who's up for it? 1. Fred (Evolution Racewerks) |

Irwindale is a 1/8 mile strip. it is where the 10 and 605 meet. It is open to the public every Thursday .
http://www.toyotaspeedwayatirwindale.com/dragstrip/index.asp 1/8 mile is more reaction time and a good place to start. Cars like the 135 with high torque at low revs do REAL good on the 1/8 mile

If you don't get to Fontana by 6:30 am this Sat. then you won't be able to race.
Reason is they only take a limited # of cars and always sell out. The gates open at 6:00 am and there are usually 200 cars waiting for the gates to open. It makes for a very long day and alot of waiting. |

only the serious/hardcore people show up for every event. Even if you can't get there early to race I still think paying $10 to spectate and walk around in the pits to see the 400 + cars is worth it. |

I have seen plenty of cars....I just want to race mine down the 1/4 mile strip. My 135 is probably getting close the the low 12 seconds by now. But, well never know for sure I guess |

I could never hit the 12's in my accord the best I ever ran was 13.20 sec. and the fastest trap was 109 mph. 2 members from another forum I've been with "v6performance.net" should be there still chasing the 12's. they both swaped the 3.0l for 3.2l and supercharged them. |

So yeah, I may be flaking out on Sat.
We just spent 2 days testing ALL day with KW at Buttonwillow and our tires and brakes are gone. I don't think I'm going to get any traction with these tires. Normally I would still chance it except there's no spare. |
