Drivers assist Pro kaput

Yesterday I turned on driver assist pro in some stop and go traffic on a local main route. The system almost immediately said there was a lack of driver attention, and within seconds just shut down the car (in the middle of a busy road), requiring a restart. It also made an emergency call. My wife was with me and she can attest that my eyes were on the road.
Luckily, the truck behind us was far away enough that we were not rear ended.
If this had occurred on a highway, the consequences could have been horrific. Needless to say this is a function I will not be using until it is repaired. (Distance control cruise control works just fine).
Booked for service next week. I'll have them do the lane change update but without the main functions of Assisted, that is kind of useless.
Anybody else experience this and know whether it is software or hardware?

Was there a clear path between the top of the screen where the camera is and your eyes?

I only ask because my wife likes to drive with her right hand at the 11 o'clock position (or so) which puts her arm right in front of the camera, triggering the attention alert in my i7 and her previous Mach E.

My hands were more 9 and 3 position, definitely not as high as 11. I thought the camera was center. In any event, the "inattention" has occasionally happened before but never as rapidly as yesterday and never with the shutdown while driving.

Wow. Sounds terrifying. Haven't heard it before, though.

I had this happen but it was from the Emergency Stop Assistant. I was driving and all the sudden the car basically slammed on the brakes. It was terrifying as I was on a congested highway.

It only happened the one time, and has worked flawlessly since.

There is a setting I found under driver assistance that stops the car after warning of inattention. I turned that off. Now when trying to use assisted drive all it does is keep turning it off every time I try to turn it on. So the dealer will have a look at that next week.

That's interesting, please let us know what the dealer says...

That has to be active in order to use the highway assistant. Otherwise it can't make an emergency stop if you stop paying attention.

It was an emergency stop while I was paying attention. In traffic. Not a graceful slow stop, just shut the car down. That is not my idea of safe. anywhay it is at the dealer now.

Dealer says after they updated software for active lane change they could not replicate the shutdown issue. They also suggested i raise the steering wheel so as not to block the camera that look for your face. We’ll see about that after I get it.

Follow up 052024: Picked car up today. All good. Assisted drive now works. Was not on highway to try auto lane change. They also did the wind noise fix and a valvetronic recall (SIB 12 02 24). Will be on road Wed to check on the wind noise issue.

The "valvetronic" must be new as the car was in the shop just a few weeks ago for its NYS inspection.

Still nothing on the IBS recall. An awful lot of recalls in a year
