Request - Let's hack the firmware on the radio
I'm tired of the orange radio not scrolling through the MP3 tags that don't fit in the display. I also want more options under the computer menu. Can someone please post the firmware image so I can start reverse engineering it?
Thanks! |

Stealing a Progman disk from work is the same as stealing a GT1: theft. BMW's software is not open source. The only thing BMW (or any manufacturer) is obligated to supply to the public free of charge is compliance with OBD2 standards. The rest is proprietary, and they can control it however they want.
If (big if) you're even able to recode/program a RAD2 on your own, the next time the car needs to be updated, the module will fail outright or have everything overwritten by the SSS. Either way, you'll be back to square one. |

I know you are catching a lot of flack, siddhartha, but I say go for it if you can do it.
I think some people find it difficult to understand it is more about seeing IF you can do it rather than the actual result. I do believe that it is going to be extremely difficult without source code, but if you want to give it a shot and assume the responsibility, then go to town. Good luck and keep us posted. |
