If you can avoid this latest update, I don’t recommend it. My Apple CarPlay worked perfectly prior to the update, since the update the CarPlay will randomly drop off while driving. Or sometimes the navigation and music will continue to play but you can’t return to the CarPlay main menu, stuck in the BMW apps until you restart the vehicle.
Typical software update: fix some things break others. |

Damned if you do and damned if you dont i guess. I have heard that if you skip an update you stop getting software updates. Not that I have any major reason to think I need the updates, but I dont want to have to go to the dealer for an update later if something useful releases.

I did have to reconnect CarPlay but it all works perfectly as expected. Note the update does recommend you reestablish the connection.
Only thing I’ve notice so far is something that bugged me since I’ve had the car has now been fixed. I usually have the idrive showing the map. On each start up it would revert to the nav screen and I’d have to select map. It stays with the map now ![]() |

I’ve got BMW OS 8.5 but it hasn’t found the update yet. Car came with 03/2025.30 when it was delivered.

I had to go into the menu to get it.
But I’m on 8.5

So what is the best thing to do for these updates?
1- Let the car update over the air as it sees fit? 2- Push the update through ourselves? 3- Just let the dealer do it at the next service appointment? |

Automatic or manual works. I don’t think you need to wait to go to the dealer. It’s straightforward just go to setting update, let it search and then follow the prompts on the screen. Of you set it to automatic then it will do it all and install at night or your time of choosing. If you’re going to the dealer anyway then might as well while it’s sitting there

Anyone else had issues after installing this update? I installed and all onboard systems are fine, however the safety camera info app is greyed out and won't connect, same with the connected drive app, also under system settings the privacy settings menu takes forever to open and then keeps defaulting to off..so seems that there's an issue with car 'talking' to BMW servers.
I've done several idrive resets which did nothing, then tried deleting profile and reinstalling which also didn't fix it....now in dealers. |

Lane Keep Assist is less aggressive. I noticed after the update the settings reset. Reduced mode it barely kicks in if ever. Now my car isn't trying to kill me.

Is there anyway of getting an official list of changes made on this update?
I appreciate everyone’s contribution, but an official document stating what they have changed, would be useful in deciding on whether or not to update. |

BMW doesn't release anything like that to the public. It might be available in the TIS Network if someone has access.

Just today the update finally showed up and is downloading to the vehicle. BMW does publish general release notes for customers, but they usually only cover broad changes. For specific technical fixes, unless the issue is tied to a TSB that is explicitly addressed by a new I-level, those details aren’t even passed down to the dealer network.
