Kinda feel like a snob...

My 06 M3 was a lease and it's being replaced by an 09 E92 M3 two weeks from now. So a few weeks ago i stripped all the aftermarket parts off of the car to sell them. So for about 4 weeks now i've been driving a bone stock M3. Pretty sweet right?.?.?. Well, i feel like i'm at the prom with the fat geeky girl.

I hate feeling that way, but when i look at my car now it' just seems... kinda ugly. Well, not ugly, but homely i guess is a better description. The suspension seems all squishy, i feel like i could ford a stream with the ride height. Stock 18's are blaa and the stock trunk lid is a disgrace to the vehicle.

I was stopped in traffic today and happen to stop in front of a small tire shop. There were a couple of kids (18-20 yrs old) out front talking. As soon as one of them saw my car he stopped his buddy and pointed out my car. Then another guy comes out and now all three are staring and talking about my car. They watch intently until i pull out of sight. Well, all i could think about was, "what are they looking at? my car is invisible and now blends in with normal cars. What are you guys looking at, you can't even hear the exhaust. This car is hideous, you should have seen and heard it a few weeks ago. etc..."

i know it's a badass car that 98% of people would love drive for a day, let alone a few weeks. I guess i'm just disenchanted now. Am i alone with this feeling or has anyone else felt this way as well?

no need to post a pic of a stock M3 for comparison, but below is what my car looked like only a few weeks ago....

Ha, I know what it feels like. My E46 basically had every aftermarket option you could possibly imagine except a SC or Turbo. I put about $40k into that car

The day I took it apart etc it sucked and I hated it and it seemed so bland and boring
But don't worry the E92 was so much better to me that I forgot my car right away. Plus I get to restart the modding process and I'm having a lot of fun so far

About a month or so back I saw my old car being sold on a dealer website and it was sort of sad, but I found the car to be so ugly in the ad, just something about it let me know it would never be anything close to my car anymore in OEM shape; because after it was all said and done the modding and personalization is what made me proud to own the car

You sound like a snob man

Nice pics.I used to have the same colour on my ex E46 M3, I love the CSL wheels. And I still love the E46 M3 bodywork. But I understand what you mean.

Congrats on the E92M3.

Your E46 was PERFECT!! All class and no bling.

My first M was an E36, purchased new. AW, 5spd. It did not have anywhere near the mods, but did have 18" 3pc AC Schnitzer's, H&R's, software, and a few bolt ons.

I had the exact same feeling when I had to strip it to turn it in. It looked and drove like a jacked-up cadillac. It was sooooo awkward.

I just got my 1200 mile service completed on my 09 E92, and I assure you that while you will always have a place in your heart for that E46 (kind of like an old girlfriend), your new M will fill that void nicely (kind of like a new girlfriend).

Damn I miss my e46. Imola red. Wish they still made that color. The bastard I sold it to crashed it 4 hours later trying to pull an insurance scam.

On a better note. Those CSL wheels will look great on the E92.

Cool, at least i'm not alone on this. Thanks for the comments on the E46, i've always been partial to understated sweetness. I did however sell those wheels since i don't want to use spacers.

The E92 is supposed to hit the docks on the 18th and hopefully be delivered on the 25th. It's an 09, Space Grey, Black w/ carbon weave trim, 19's.

Oh yeah, i've got some parts waiting to go on and an ericsson boot lid is on the way. Also looking at some TCK coilovers.

I know I feel bad driving such a nice car in these tough times. In fact, I'm a bit paranoid because people around my hood are "on edge" lately and will snap at the smallest thing

Twas not like that 3 years ago....

I feel the same way about all the cars I've owned. Your car just doesn't look good to you because its your car. Idk. Everyone can't stop looking at my car and pointing but when I look at it, it just seems like another car.

PS: You're e46 looks great!

I wouldn't drive that ugly thing if you paid me. My e93 is going into the trash in 2012 when the redesign comes out.
